European Ladies Amateur Championship
The European Ladies Amateur Championship is an annual amateur golf tournament. It is organized by the European Golf Association and is one of the "elite" tournaments recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The championship was first played in 1986 and was called the International European Ladies Amateur Championship until 2015. There have been 33 editions contested so far, with many past winners and medallists of this championship are now members of the professional ranks. Format The top 144 ladies golfers compete for the win in a format consisting of four rounds of stroke play, with a cut after the third round, out of which the lowest 60 ladies' scores, including ties, qualify for the final round. Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. María Parra Luque (born 4 December 1997) is a professional golfer from Spain who played on the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour already as a teenager. She won the 2015 European Ladies Amateur and rose to No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Amateur career Parra had a successful amateur career. Line Vedel Hansen (born 4 March 1989) is a Danish professional golfer. Amateur career Vedel Hansen started playing golf at Haderslev Golfklub as a nine year old, as her parents had a house adjoining the golf course. She was girl club champion 2001, 2003 and 2004, and ladies club champion 2003, 2005 and 2006. Manon Gidali (born 15 October 1993) is a French professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Amateur career Gidali had a successful amateur career and was runner-up at the 2010 European Ladies Amateur Championship, behind Sophia Popov, and won bronze at the 2010 Espirito Santo Trophy in Buenos Aires. Sophia Popov (born 2 October 1992) is a German professional golfer. Personal life Popov holds dual United States-German citizenship having been born in the United States, and moved to Germany with her family when she was four years old. Lisa Maguire (born 30 November 1994) is a former Irish professional golfer. In 2011, she was ranked as high as 10th in the world on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. She retired in 2019. Emily Kristine Pedersen (born 7 March 1996) is a Danish professional golfer who plays on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. She had a successful amateur career winning the 2013 International European Ladies Amateur Championship and the 2014 British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship.
