Ipomopsis Aggregata
''Ipomopsis aggregata'' is a species of biennial flowering plant in the phlox family (Polemoniaceae), commonly known as scarlet trumpet, scarlet gilia, or skyrocket because of its scarlet red flowers with lobes curving back as if blown back by rocketing through the air.Sierra Nevada Wildflowers, Karen Wiese, 2nd ed., 2013, p. 107 Description ''Ipomopsis aggregata'' has characteristic red, trumpet-shaped flowers and basal leaves stemming from a single erect stem. Depending on elevation, height can range from 12 inches, in Rocky Mountain alpine areas, to over 5 feet, in areas of southern Texas. Trumpet flowers can range from white, red, orange-red, and pink. Pink flowers are especially common in high mesa areas of Colorado, such as the Flat Tops, Grand Mesa, or the Uncompahgre Plateau. Yellow flowers have been reported for plant but are extremely rare. Fernlike leaves are low to the ground, helping encourage warmth in colder areas, and have silver specks and a fine white pubesce ... Brickellia Veronicaefolia
''Brickellia veronicifolia'' is a North American species of plants in the family Asteraceae. It is widespread across much of Mexico, from Chihuahua to Oaxaca. In the United States, it very rare, found only in the Chisos Mountains inside Big Bend National Park in Texas, and also in Otero County in New Mexico. ''Brickellia veronicifolia'' is a shrub up to 90 cm (3 feet) tall. It produces large numbers of small, pale yellow or cream-colored flower heads. ''Brickellia veronicifolia'' contains high amounts of essential oils, Germacrene D, a natural insecticide and the two flavonoids brickellin and eupatolitin Eupatolitin is a chemical compound. O-methylated Flavonol
The O-methylated flavonoids or methoxyflavonoids are flavonoids with methylations on hydroxyl groups (methoxy bonds). O-methylation has an effect on the solubility of flavonoids. Enzymes O-methylated flavonoids formation implies the presence of specific O-methyltransferase (OMT) enzymes which accept a variety of substrates. Those enzymes mediate the O-methylation on a specific hydroxyl group, like on 4' (example in ''Catharanthus roseus'') or 3' (example in rice) positions. Those positions can be ortho, meta, para and there can be a special 3-O-methyltransferase for the 3-OH position. Calamondin orange ('' Citrus mitis'') exhibits all of those activities. Plant enzymes * Apigenin 4'-O-methyltransferase * 8-hydroxyquercetin 8-O-methyltransferase * Isoflavone 4'-O-methyltransferase * Isoflavone 7-O-methyltransferase * Isoliquiritigenin 2'-O-methyltransferase * Isoorientin 3'-O-methyltransferase * Kaempferol 4'-O-methyltransferase * Luteolin O-methyltransferase * Methylquercet ... Rhamnose
Rhamnose (Rha, Rham) is a naturally occurring deoxy sugar. It can be classified as either a methyl-pentose or a 6-deoxy-hexose. Rhamnose predominantly occurs in nature in its L-form as L-rhamnose (6-deoxy-L-mannose). This is unusual, since most of the naturally occurring sugars are in D-form. Exceptions are the methyl pentoses L-fucose and L-rhamnose and the pentose L-arabinose. However, examples of naturally-occurring D-rhamnose include some species of bacteria, such as ''Pseudomonas aeruginosa'' and ''Helicobacter pylori''. Rhamnose can be isolated from Buckthorn (''Rhamnus''), poison sumac, and plants in the genus ''Uncaria''. Rhamnose is also produced by microalgae belonging to class Bacillariophyceae (diatoms). Rhamnose is commonly bound to other sugars in nature. It is a common glycone component of glycosides from many plants. Rhamnose is also a component of the outer cell membrane of acid-fast bacteria in the ''Mycobacterium'' genus, which includes the organism that cau ... Eupatorium Ligustrinum
''Ageratina ligustrina'', the (privet-leaved ageratina or privet-leaved snakeroot, is Mesoamerican species of evergreen flowering shrub in the sunflower family. It is widespread across much of Mexico and Central America from Tamaulipas to Costa Rica. ''Ageratina ligustrina'' grows to 4 metres tall, producing flat heads of daisy-like white to pink composite flower-heads in autumn. The fragrant flower-heads may be up to 20 centimeters in diameter and attract butterflies. The leaves are light green, elliptic to lance shaped, with toothed margins. Cultivation ''Ageratina ligustrina'' has been in cultivation since the mid 1800s, and in 1996, it gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It is not fully hardy in temperate regions. In the US, it is suitable to be grown outdoors in hardiness zones 9–11. ''A. ligustrina'' tends to be susceptible to slugs and aphids if grown outside, and whiteflies and red spider mites if grown in a greenhouse. Etymology ''Ag ... Flavonoids Found In Asteraceae
Flavonoids (or bioflavonoids; from the Latin word ''flavus'', meaning yellow, their color in nature) are a class of polyphenolic secondary metabolites found in plants, and thus commonly consumed in the diets of humans. Chemically, flavonoids have the general structure of a 15-carbon skeleton, which consists of two phenyl rings (A and B) and a heterocyclic ring (C, the ring containing the embedded oxygen). This carbon structure can be abbreviated C6-C3-C6. According to the IUPAC nomenclature, they can be classified into: *flavonoids or bioflavonoids *isoflavonoids, derived from 3-phenyl chromen-4-one (3-phenyl-1,4-benzopyrone) structure *neoflavonoids, derived from 4-phenylcoumarine (4-phenyl-1,2-benzopyrone) structure The three flavonoid classes above are all ketone-containing compounds and as such, anthoxanthins (flavones and flavonols). This class was the first to be termed bioflavonoids. The terms flavonoid and bioflavonoid have also been more loosely used to describe non-k ...
