Eula is an unincorporated community in Callahan County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Abilene, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Eula is located at 32°20'32" North, 99°32'42" West (32.3423509, -99.5617473). Demographics As of the census of 1990, there were 125 people in the community. History A post office was founded at Eula in 1889. In 1913, the post office was closed, as population had fallen. By 1940, an independent school had been formed, and a number of families had moved into the area. There are three churches in the area, a Southern Baptist Church, a United Methodist Church, and the House of Yahweh. A Lions Club also meets regularly in Eula. Most homes in the Eula community have United States Postal Service addresses in Clyde, Texas. Rodeo () is a competitive equestrian sport that arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and Mexico, expanding throughout the Americas and to other nations. Jack Favor
Jack Graves Favor, also known as Cadillac Jack Favor, (November 30, 1911 – December 27, 1988) was an American rodeo performer. Biography Early life Favor was born on a ranch in Eula, Texas. He attended and graduated from Abilene High School. While at high school he won his first rodeo competition as a bronc rider in Cameron, Texas. Later life Favor served in the United States Navy from 1929 to 1932, returning to Texas after his discharge. He worked as a truck driver for a plumbing company in Abilene, Texas. Favor later settled in Fort Worth, Texas, before returning to the Navy in 1941. Favor continued to compete in rodeos, retiring in 1961 to live Texarkana, Texas and work as a salesman. Clyde is a city in Callahan County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,713 at the 2010 census, up from 3,345 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Abilene metropolitan statistical area. Geography Clyde is located in northwestern Callahan County at (32.4044, –99.4982). The House of Yahweh (HOY) is a religious group based in Eula, Texas. The assembly has been controversial and is referred to as a cult by former members. Founder Yisrayl Hawkins (also known as "Buffalo Bill" Hawkins) is HOY's founder. In 1974, his brother, J. G. (Yaaqob) Hawkins, returned from a seven-year visit to Israel claiming he had "found proof of Yahweh's name". Shortly after, he formed the "first House of Yahweh" in Odessa, Texas.
