It was published in serial form between 1825 and 1832. The first complete edition was published in 1833, and the currently accepted version is based on the 1837 publication. Almost the entire work is made up of 389 fourteen-line stanzas (5,446 lines in all) of iambic tetrameter with the unusual rhyme scheme , where the uppercase letters represent feminine rhymes while the lowercase letters represent masculine rhymes. This form has come to be known as the "Onegin stanza" or the "Pushkin sonnet". The innovative rhyme scheme, the natural tone a ...

Carrie & Lowell
''Carrie & Lowell'' is the seventh studio album by American musician Sufjan Stevens. It was released on March 31, 2015, by Asthmatic Kitty. It is executively produced by Stevens, and features guest contributions from Thomas Bartlett, Sean Carey, Casey Foubert, Ben Lester, Nedelle Torrisi, and Laura Veirs. Unlike Stevens' previous album, the electronic '' The Age of Adz'' (2010), ''Carrie & Lowell'' features sparse instrumentation, with critics noting it as reminiscent of the performer's earlier indie folk-inspired material. Lyrically, the album sees him explore the fallout from the 2012 death of his mother Carrie, and the relationship between Stevens and Carrie’s second husband Lowell Brams, who helped Stevens found Asthmatic Kitty. ''Carrie & Lowell'' was supported by the lead singles "No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross" and " Should Have Known Better". The album saw word-of-mouth marketing through its one-week preview on NPR, and after the song "Death with Dignity" feat ...

The Evening Call
''The Evening Call'' is an album by American folk singer/guitarist Greg Brown, released in 2006. It was his first album of all new material in over four years. Reception A review of the album in ''Sing Out!'' includes a lengthy description of the album's sound: "Brown and Ramsey do themselves proud with the laid back production, mostly guitars, bass, soft drums and percussion and the occasional harmonica that never obscure the lyrics and keep the action moving forward. You'll hear every detail of Brown's voice growling its way through the complex and sometimes brilliant lyrics. However, Brown makes Leonard Cohen sound like Mr. Sunshine. This CD requires several listenings to divine all Brown has to say and absorb the depth of his writing, but it's not one you'll want to put on the repeat mode on your CD player." ''Acoustic Guitar'' states that the album "is among Brown's finest work," and suggests the work was "clearly influenced by the sudden death last year of Brown's close f ...

Eugene Onegin (opera)
''Eugene Onegin'' ( rus, Евгений Онегин, italic=yes, Yevgény Onégin, jɪvˈɡʲenʲɪj ɐˈnʲeɡʲɪn, Ru-Evgeny_Onegin.ogg), Opus number, Op. 24, is an opera ("lyrical scenes") in 3 acts (7 scenes), composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto, organised by the composer himself, very closely follows certain passages in Alexander Pushkin's 1825-1832 Eugene Onegin, novel in verse, retaining much of his poetry. Tchaikovsky's friend Konstantin Shilovsky contributed M. Triquet's verses in Act 2, Scene 1, while Tchaikovsky himself arranged the text for Lensky's arioso in Act 1, Scene 1, and almost all of Prince Gremin's aria in Act 3, Scene 1. ''Eugene Onegin'' is a well-known example of lyric opera, to which Tchaikovsky added music of a dramatic nature. The story concerns a selfish hero who lives to regret his blasé rejection of a young woman's love and his careless incitement of a fatal duel with his best friend. The opera was first performed in Moscow in 1879. ...
