Eubule Thelwall (politician)
Sir Eubule Thelwall (c. 1562 – 8 October 1630) was a Welsh lawyer, academic and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1624 and 1629. He was principal of Jesus College, Oxford, from 1621 to 1630. Life Thelwall was the fifth son of John Wynne Thelwall. He was educated at Westminster School and was a scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he received his BA in 1577. Thelwall matriculated at the University of Oxford on 14 July 1579, and was awarded his MA on 13 June 1580. He was Chief Master of the Alienation office from 1579 to 1599 and was called to the bar in 1599. On 8 March 1605, he was appointed steward and recorder of Ruthin for life. He built the house of Plas Coch and on 28 December 1607 he received a joint grant of the office of Prothonotary and Clerk of the Crown in Anglesey, Carnarvonshire, and Merionethshire for life, in reversion after the death of Richard Fowler. Eubule Thelwall (landowner)
Eubule Thelwall (1622 – 4 February 1694) was a landowner and solicitor who held legal offices in North Wales and Cheshire, and the third son of John Thelwall of Bathafarn Park, Ruthin. In 1646 he served in the siege of Denbigh Castle and was sent by William Salesbury, the castle's governor, to Charles I to seek his permission to surrender. Thelwall married Marry Parry, the heiress of Nantclwyd estate in 1653 and instigated a complete rebuild of the building and of a second, smaller building in the nearby town of Ruthin: Nantclwyd y Dre, which is Wales's oldest dated timbered town house. Sir Eubule Thelwall (c. 1557 – 8 October 1630), Principal of Jesus College, Oxford was his great-uncle. Career Thelwall entered Gray's Inn in 1635 and appears to have worked in the law and lived mainly in London; much of his property was destroyed by the Great Fire of London of 1666 and by 1662 he was back in the Vale of Clwyd. Eubule Thelwall (college Principal)
Eubule Thelwall ( – 20 June 1727) was Principal of Jesus College, Oxford, from 1725 to 1727. Thelwall came from Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales and matriculated at St Mary's Hall, Oxford St Mary Hall was a medieval academic hall of the University of Oxford. It was associated with Oriel College from 1326 to 1545, but functioned independently from 1545 until it was incorporated into Oriel College in 1902. History In 1320, ... at the age of 17 in 1699.
