Etobicoke was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 1979. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was created in 1966 from parts of York—Humber riding. It consisted of that part of Metropolitan Toronto bounded as follows: from the intersection of Dundas Street West and Jane Street, north along Jane Street, west along Eglinton Avenue West, northwest along the Humber River, west along Dixon Side Road, north along Islington Avenue North, west along Rexdale Boulevard, north along Kipling Avenue North, northwest along the West Branch of the Humber River, south along the boundary between the Townships of Etobicoke and Toronto, northeast along the Queen Elizabeth Way, north along Kipling Avenue South, and northeast along Dundas Street West to Jane Street. York South—Weston (french: York-Sud—Weston) is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979. In 2015, York South—Weston elected Canada's first MP of Somali descent, Ahmed Hussen. The Library of Parliament (french: Bibliothèque du Parlement) is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada. Alastair Gillespie
Alastair William Gillespie, (May 1, 1922 – August 19, 2018) was a Canadian politician and businessman. Gillespie was born in Victoria, British Columbia, the son of Errol Pilkington Gillespie and Catherine Beatrice (Oliver) Gillespie. He attended Brentwood College School where he was an avid rugby player. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in 1947 and a Masters of Arts from University of Oxford, Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar in 1949. He later received a Master of Commerce from the University of Toronto in 1958. Gillespie worked at educational publisher Gage Educational Publishing Company, W.J. Gage & Co from 1949 to 1970, beginning in warehouse operations and finishing as director and vice president. Etobicoke North (french: Etobicoke-Nord) is a federal electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that has been represented by one Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979.
