Eszter Mattioni
Eszter Mattioni (1902 in Szekszárd – 1993 in Budapest) was a prominent twentieth century Hungarian painter. For five years she attended the Applied Arts Vocational School, and between 1931 and 1942 she worked with group of artists known as Zugliget, which included Vilmos Aba-Novák, Károly Patkó, Emil Kelemen, Jenő Barcsay and Ernő Bánk Ernő Bánk (1883, Szalmatercs - 1962, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter and teacher noted for his miniature portraits. He was a member of the Association of Hungarian Watercolour and Pastel Painters. Bánk trained as a secondary school teacher .... She made study trips to Italy in 1935 where she met her future husband and to the Scandinavian countries in 1939 increasing her recognition and acclaim across Europe. In 1940, she was elected Honorary Life Member. In 1946, she became Member of the Pál Szinyei Merse Society which featured the most prominent painters of Hungary. Ernő Bánk
Ernő Bánk (1883, Szalmatercs - 1962, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter and teacher noted for his miniature portraits. He was a member of the Association of Hungarian Watercolour and Pastel Painters. Bánk trained as a secondary school teacher and in 1915 obtained a doctorate in geography and history from Budapest Pázmány Péter University. He also studied painting under Henrik Pap and Béla Sándor at the School of Applied Arts. Between 1914 and 1918 he painted portraits for the 30th Infantry Regiment that were shown at the Museum of Military History. In 1918 and 1919 he worked as secretary for the Civil Radical Party. He died in 1962. Jenő Barcsay (14 January 1900, Katona, Austria-Hungary (today Cătina, Romania) – 2 April 1988, Budapest, Hungary) was a Hungarian painter with Armenian ancestry.Gudenus János József: Örmény eredetű magyar nemesi családok genealógiája Erdélyi Örmény Gyökerek, Budapest, 2000 Born in Katona, Hungary in 1900, Barcsay was a descendant of an aristocratic family from Transylvania. Szekszárd
Szekszárd (, formerly also ''Szegzárd''; hr, Seksar; german: Sechshard or ; sr, Сексард) is a small city in southern Hungary and the capital of Tolna County. By population, Szekszárd is the smallest county capital in Hungary; by area, it is the second-smallest (after Tatabánya). Location Szekszárd lies at the meeting point of the Transdanubian Hills and the Great Hungarian Plain, at the mouth of Sió into the flood plain of Danube. History Szekszárd was first mentioned in 1015. The Benedictine monastery of the town was founded by King Béla I in 1061. During the reign of King Matthias, Szekszárd was the estate of Bishop John, who was involved in a conspiracy against the king. Károly Patkó
Karoly Patko (1895 - 1941 in Budapest) was a twentieth century Hungarian painter and copper engraver, noted for his nude paintings in a plastic presentation. Patkó, studied in Budapest, was influenced by István Szőnyi and Vilmos Aba Novák who he worked with in the 1920s and 1930s.
