Estonian Open Air Museum
The Estonian Open Air Museum ( Estonian: ''Eesti Vabaõhumuuseum'') is a life-sized reconstruction of an 18th-19th century rural/fishing village, which includes church, tavern, schoolhouse, several mills, a fire station, twelve farmyards and net sheds. Furthermore, it includes a recently opened 20th century Soviet kolkhoz apartment building, and a prefabricated modern wooden house from 2019. The site spans of land and along with the farmyards, old public buildings are arranged singularly and in groups in a way that represents an overview of Estonian vernacular architecture of the past two centuries from across Estonia. The museum is located to the west of Tallinn city center at Rocca al Mare. The plans for founding the museum were first discussed in 1913, when Estonian literati, inspired by Scandinavian open-air museums, wanted to establish such a museum in Estonia. Rocca Al Mare
Rocca al Mare (Italian for ''"Rock-by-the-Sea"''; ) is a subdistrict ( et, asum) in the district of Haabersti, Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is mostly covered by the Estonian Open Air Museum. Besides the museum there is also a private secondary school Rocca al Mare School located in the subdistrict. Estonia's third largest shopping centre, Rocca al Mare Shopping Centre is located southeast of Rocca al Mare, officially located in the Haabersti Haabersti (german: Habers) is one of the 8 administrative districts ( et, linnaosa) of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Geocaching
Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. Kolu Tavern
The Kolu kõrts (Estonian for ''Inn of Kolu'') is a relocated authentic inn originally built in the Estonian vernacular style in the village of Kolu, Harjumaa in 1840 and currently exhibited and operated as a part of the Estonian Open Air Museum. The building was relocated to the museum in 1968 and reconstructed in 1969–1973. Since 1993, a restaurant operates inside the building. The restaurant serves traditional Estonian cuisine. The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Of Latvia
The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia ( lv, Latvijas Etnogrāfiskais brīvdabas muzejs) is an open-air museum located just outside Riga, the capital of Latvia, on the lightly wooded shores of Jugla Lake. History In 1924, the Latvian Council of Monuments signed an order to create the open-air museum in Riga. The idea for the new museum was inspired by open-air museums in Scandinavia, particularly Skansen in Stockholm. The plan was to relocate a homestead from all four regions of Latvia – Kurzeme, Zemgale, Vidzeme and Latgale – to the museum. Each of the buildings would represent the different crafts of each area. The new museum acquired land from a state land fund in the sandy dunes near Jugla Lake, just outside the city. Tallinn Bay ( et, Tallinna laht) is a bay in Estonia on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland. The Estonian capital city Tallinn is located on the southern coast of the bay. Tallinn Bay itself is divided into several parts: Tallinn Roadstead (), Kopli Bay, Kakumäe Bay and Paljassaare Bay.
