Estonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2014
Estonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Amazing" written by Timo Vendt and Tatjana Mihhailova. The song was performed by Tanja. The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2014'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Ten songs competed in each semi-final and the top five from each semi-final as determined by a jury panel and public vote qualified to the final. In the final, the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a jury panel and a public vote selected the top two to qualify to the superfinal. In the superfinal, "Amazing" performed by Tanja was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Tanja Mihhailova-Saar
Tatjana Mihhailova-Saar (russian: Татьяна Михайлова, born 19 June 1983), better known as Tanja or Tanja Mihhailova is a Russian-Estonian pop singer and actress. She was born in Kaliningrad, Russia, and has lived in Estonia from a very young age. Tanja has been a member of several bands in her professional career and has performed in several stage musicals. She represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song " Amazing" and finished in 12th place in the semi-final, failing to qualify. Maarja-Liis Ilus, sometimes better known by her performing name Maarja (born 24 December 1980) is an Estonian pop music, pop musician and presenter. Sven Lõhmus (born 13 July 1972) is an Estonian pop-composer and lyricist. He is a producer at Moonwalk Studios, a music company featuring Estonian artists. He has worked with leading artists of Estonia, including Vanilla Ninja (of which he was also manager), Suntribe, Urban Symphony, Grete Paia, Laura Põldvere, and Getter Jaani. In 2003, 2004 and 2010 he won the award for "Best Author" from the "Eesti Popmuusika Aastaauhinnad". He was also the lead singer of two bands, Mr. Happyman and Black Velvet. Mihkel Raud (born 18 January 1969) is an Estonian writer, music artist, actor, and a former member of the Estonian parliament. He is best known for his book ''Musta pori näkku'' and as a former host of an Estonian talk show on TV3. Tuuli Rand (born 1 March 1990 in Kuressaare, Saaremaa) is an Estonian singer. Early life and education She is a graduate of Kuressaare Gymnasium and Georg Ots Music Singing School. Career She is the lead singer in bands TuuliKustiPeep, Funkifize, Bliss, Estonian Dream Dixieland Band, and the vocal ensemble Söörömöö. During the Estonian singing show ''Eesti otsib superstaari'' she came to the studio rounds, but stopped there on her way and she did not make the finals. As semi-finalist of Eesti Laul 2013 competition, she was co-managing two projects. With Liisi Koikson and band Söörömöö (of it she is a member), she sang the song "''Üle vee''" (Over the Water) and as a solo artist sang the song "Ring the Alarm", with Teele Viira. Traffic is an Estonian band from Tallinn, Estonia, most notable for being in Eurolaul 2008, Eesti Laul 2009, Eesti Laul 2012, Eesti Laul 2014, Eesti Laul 2020 and Eesti Laul 2022. Liisi Koikson
Liisi Koikson (born 4 June 1983 in Kilingi-Nõmme) is an Estonian singer, singing teacher and actress. Liisi Koikson attended Kilingi-Nõmme Gymnasium, graduating in 2001. Her first singing coach was composer, choir director and vocal pedagogue Toomas Voll, from 1991 until 1999. In 1993, at age ten, Koikson won the Eesti Televisioon (ETV) song competition ''Laulukarussell'' for the 8–10 year old category. In 2006, she graduated from the Georg Ots Tallinn Music College. Urban Symphony
Urban Symphony was an Estonian music group. It represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Rändajad", finishing in 6th place with 129 points. In doing this, they achieved Estonia's best placement since 2002. History In autumn 2007, Sandra Nurmsalu took part in the singing talent show called ''2 takti ette'', biennially held by the Eesti Televisioon and broadcast nationwide. In a week of the contest, the contestants were tasked to form bands each on their own and each to produce a performance with it. Nurmsalu had studied the violin for two years in the Georg Ots Music School and had previously arranged the song "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica for a string set of the school. Sandra Nurmsalu (born 6 December 1988) is an Estonian singer, songwriter, and violinist. Recognized within Estonia for her genre-bending style, Nurmsalu has garnered success as both the lead singer of Urban Symphony and as a solo artist. Vanilla Ninja is an Estonian all-female rock band which enjoyed chart success in a number of countries across Europe, especially in Estonia, Germany and Austria. The group formed in 2002 and released their self-titled debut album ''Vanilla Ninja'', containing songs in both English and Estonian, the following year. Switzerland participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Cool Vibes" written by David Brandes, Jane Tempest and John O'Flynn.
