Estonian Olympic Committee
The Estonian Olympic Committee ( et, Eesti Olümpiakomitee) (EOK) is responsible for the Estonia's participation in the Olympic Games. History The Estonian Sports Federation ( et, Eesti Spordi Liit) decided to form the Estonian Olympic Committee in the First Estonian Sport Congress ( et, Eesti I Spordikongress) on 30 November 1919, one and a half years after the proclamation of the independence of Estonia, but it was officially founded on 8 December 1923. The first chairman of the committee dr. Karl Friedrich Akel, was elected on 5 May 1924. An independent Estonian team took part in the Olympic Games over the period of 1920–1936. As Estonia was invaded and occupied in 1940, and reoccupied by the Soviet Union in 1944, the Estonian Olympic athletes competed as part of the USSR delegations at the Olympic Games from 1952 until 1988. Basketball At The 2015 European Games
Basketball competitions at the 2015 European Games were held from June 22 to June 26, 2015 at the Basketball Arena in Baku. The competition took place in the half-court '' 3x3'' format, and both the men's and women's tournaments featured sixteen teams. Each qualifying team consisted of four players, of whom three could appear on court at any one time. Qualification A NOC may enter one men's team with four players and one women's team with four players. The host country qualifies automatically in each tournament, as do fifteen other teams throughout Europe. The top fifteen teams at the 2014 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships were also eligible to send a team. Alicia Marín
Alicia Marín Martínez (born 17 April 1997 in Madrid) is a Spanish recurve archer. She has competed for Spain at the Summer Youth Olympics, World Archery Championships, the Archery World Cup, and the European Games, winning a bronze medal in the latter in 2015. Career 2014-2016 Marín competed in her first senior tournament in 2014 at the European Outdoor Championships in Armenia, defeating Russia's Inna Stepanova in the bronze medal match to earn her maiden senior archery medal. In 2015 Marín was selected to compete in three events at the inaugural European Games held in Baku in June. She won a bronze medal in the women's individual competition, reaching the semi-finals after finishing the 72-arrow round in nineteenth place. The women's individual recurve competition at the 2015 European Games was held from 16 to 19 June 2015 at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. One of five events comprising the inaugural European Games' archery programme, it featured a total of 62 archers from 30 different nations. Karina Winter of Germany won the gold medal, defeating the reigning world champion Maja Jager of Denmark in the final. Spain's Alicia Marín won the bronze medal ahead of Greece's Evangelia Psarra. Laura Nurmsalu (born 1 June 1994) is an Estonian recurve archer who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Nurmsalu represented her country at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. The volleyball tournaments at the 2015 European Games in Baku were played between 13 and 28 June. 12 teams participated in the two indoor tournaments, while 32 pairs took part in each of the beach volleyball events. Qualification Indoor volleyball Each event will accept twelve entered teams. Qualification for indoor volleyball for the 2015 European Games is based on European rankings. Those rankings shall be taken on 1 January 2015, and based on the CEV Entry Ranking/Euro league participations. As hosts, Azerbaijan shall be entitled to entry in both indoor events, and nations will be restricted to single team of 14 players in each event. Swimming At The 2015 European Games
The swimming events at the 2015 European Games took place at the Baku Aquatics Centre, Baku from 23 to 27 June 2015. 42 events were contested in long course conditions. Swimming was not included in the earliest list of sports confirmed for the 2015 Games, as the European swimming authorities at that stage were minded not to take part. However, following negotiations with the organising authorities, a compromise was reached whereby, in 2015, these events were for junior swimmers only - in effect, under 18 for men, under 16 for women. Shooting competitions at the 2015 European Games in Baku were held from 13 to 19 June 2015 at the Baku Shooting centre. Nineteen events were in the program with 330 athletes participating. The programme featured several non-Olympic Mixed team events. The winners of the fifteen Olympic events automatically qualified to the 2016 Summer Olympics. Qualification The bulk (295 from 330) of qualification quota places were awarded based on European rankings as of 31 December 2014. The quota places were for athletes who were among: - 33 top-ranked in Men's Trap and Skeet; - 30 top-ranked in all individual Pistol and Rifle events of either gender; - 18 top-ranked in Women's Trap and Skeet, and Men's Double Trap.
