Esther Mbabazi
Esther Mbabazi is a professional commercial airline pilot in Rwanda. She is the first female in Rwanda to become certified as a commercial airline pilot. She flies for RwandAir, the national airline of Rwanda. Background and education She was born in Burundi circa 1988, to Rwandese parents. Her father and mother are revivalist pastors and the family moved around a lot. When Esther was about eight years, her father died in a plane crash when the aircraft he was travelling in overshot the runway while landing in neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo. The family moved back to Rwanda in 1996. She trained at the East African Civil Aviation Academy in Uganda, before RwandAir sponsored her to continue her training in Miami, Florida. Career On completion of her studies in the United States, Esther Mbabazi was hired by RwandAir to fly as a co-pilot on the Boeing 737 and on the CRJ900, beginning in 2012, when she was 24 years old. Boeing 737
The Boeing 737 is a narrow-body aircraft produced by Boeing at its Renton Factory in Washington. Developed to supplement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retains the 707 fuselage width and six abreast seating with two underwing turbofans. Airline Captain Aluel James Bol, is a professional pilot in the United States of America, who flies for Delta Air Lines. She is credited to be the first woman from South Sudan to qualify as an airline pilot. Early life and education She was born circa 1983 to South Sudanese parents. Her father was the late Justice James Bol. She grew up in Kenya, as a refugee, during South Sudan's political and ethnic conflict. Following the death of her father, she was sponsored by the new South Sudanese government to complete training as an airline pilot, in aviation schools in the United States, graduating in 2011. Geraldine Waruguru is a Kenyan businesswoman and airline pilot. She is the founder, co-owner and chief executive officer of ''Scents by Geraldine Limited'', a perfume manufacturing business, based in Nairobi. CRJ900
The Bombardier CRJ700, CRJ900, and CRJ1000 are a family of regional jet airliners that were designed and manufactured by Canadian transportation conglomerate Bombardier (formerly Canadair) between 1999 and 2020.
