Esteghlal Khuzestan Football Club ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال استقلال خوزستان, ''Bašgâh-e Futbâl-e Esteqlâl-e Xuzestân''), commonly known as Esteghlal Khuzestan, is an Iranian football club based in Ahvaz, Iran. The club currently competes in the Azadegan League after being relegated from Persian Gulf Pro League in the 2018–19 season. This football club is different from Esteghlal Ahvaz. In 2011 they bought Esteghlal Jonub's licence to compete in the Azadegan League. They finished 2012–13 season in 2nd place of their group and qualified to the promotion play-off. However, they were awarded the direct promotion IRIFF after group's winner, Shahrdari Tabriz's relegation due to match-fixing. They won the Persian Gulf Pro League title in 2015–16 season. The Takhti Stadium of Ahvaz () is a multi-purpose stadium in Ahvaz, Iran. It is currently used mostly for Association football, football and Rugby football, rugby matches. The stadium is able to hold 15,000 people. It is currently home venue of Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C., Esteghlal Ahvaz. History The stadium was built in 1978, there have been many disputes as to the name of Takhti Stadium. The argument being that it would have been prevalent to have named the stadium after talented players produced by Ahvaz itself. The stadium had been the home of both Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C., Esteghlal Ahvaz and Foolad F.C., Foolad in past years. Foolad F.C., Foolad was relegated in 2007, they were as such not allowed to play all the matches in this stadium. In 2013 Foolad permanently moved to a much bigger Ghadir Stadium. Ghadir Stadium
The Ahvaz Ghadir Stadium ( fa, ورزشگاه غدیر اهواز) is a new multi-use stadium in Ahvaz, Iran, has a capacity of 38,900 people. Background In 1974, Zohreh Malileh Farshid, one of Iran's first and youngest female architects designed the Ahvaz Sports Complex. Her wish was to have it ready for Ahvaz to host the 1984 Summer Olympics. The building progress of the complex was ready to start in November 1978 but after the victory of Iranian Revolution in 1979 and start of the Iran–Iraq War in 1981, the building progress was cancelled. After the end of the war in 1989, Ahvaz's then mayor, Mohammad Hossein Adeli was announced that the building of the complex will be started in February 1992. Foolad Khuzestan Football Club ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال فولاد خوزستان, ''Bāshgāh-e Futbāl-e Fulād-e Khuzestān'') is an Iranian football club, based in Ahwaz, Khuzestan that plays in Persian Gulf Pro League. Foolad F.C. was founded in 1971 and is owned by Foolad Khuzestan Company. The club has won Iran Pro League twice, including a championship in the lower division, Azadegan League. Seyed Mohammad Alavi ( fa, سید محمد علوی, born 29 January 1982 in Kashan, Iran) is an Iranian retired footballer and football manager. He manages Esteghlal Khuzestan in Persian Gulf Pro League. He usually played in the defensive midfield position. Club career A product of the football rich province of Khuzestan and the young team of Foolad, he was a pivotal player within this young team and his consistency and solid defending was one of the factors for the success of his club in becoming the champions of the IPL 2004/05.
