Esteban De La Rama
Esteban de la Rama (alternative spelling: Esteban dela Rama) was a Filipino general during the Philippine Revolution, entrepreneur and politician of the Nacionalista Party (NP), who became a member of the Philippine Senate from 1941 to 1947. Early life De la Rama was the son of Isidro dela Rama, a large landowner of sugar cane plantations, who served as one of the vice mayors of Iloilo in 1890, which was granted city rights on January 31, 1890, by the then Minister of Colonies of Spain, Manuel Becerra. He himself completed his schooling in the Philippines and abroad. After his father died on June 10, 1897, he took over his shipping company. The Senate of the Philippines (Filipino: ''Senado ng Pilipinas'', also ''Mataas na Kapulungan ng Pilipinas'' or "upper chamber") is the upper house of Congress of the bicameral legislature of the Philippines with the House of Representatives as the lower house. The Senate is composed of 24 senators who are elected at-large (the country forms one district in its elections) under plurality-at-large voting. It served the City of Iloilo from 1923 until 2019, when its franchise service expired and MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) controversially took over. Villa de Arevalo (; ), commonly known as simply Villa or Arevalo, is one of the seven districts of Iloilo City in the province of Iloilo, on the island of Panay in Western Visayas, in the Philippines. Jaro (; ) is a district of Iloilo City in the Philippine province of Iloilo on Panay Island in the Western Visayas region.
