Estadio Nueva Balastera is a football stadium in Palencia, Spain. It is the home ground of CF Palencia. The stadium holds 8,100 and was built in 2006, replacing the old La Balastera, built in 1943. Construction It was built by a group of local enterprises with a final cost of €18,000,000. Its main promoter was president Alberto de la Corte López who proposed a new stadium for Palencia in 2001 and encouraged public and private institutions to take over the project. Corte López died after a long illness before the project completed. The architect was Patxi Mangado, who sought a minimalist style. Particular importance was attached to the lighting of the building. Palencia () is a city of Spain located in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is the capital and most populated municipality of the province of Palencia. Located in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, in the northern half of the Inner Plateau, the city lies on the left-bank of the Carrión river. Club de Fútbol Palencia was a Spanish football team based in Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León.
