Estadio Héroes De Curupayty
The Estadio Héroes de Curupayty is a rugby union stadium in Luque, Paraguay. It is owned by the National Government of Paraguay and administered by Secretaria Nacional de Deportes through the Paraguayan Rugby Union. The stadium is located within the Parque Olímpico, the property of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, and it is the home ground of the Paraguay national rugby union team. In early 2020, the stadium underwent renovation works for a total amount of ₲ 2,998,882.813 and was reopened on 25 November 2020. The works included the implementation of synthetic turf which complies with Regulation 22 of World Rugby that specifies the requirements for artificial turf for use in the sport of rugby. Before its redevelopment the stadium had a capacity for 3,000 seated people. Yacare XV
Yacare XV is a Paraguayan professional rugby union team based in Asunción. The team was founded in 2019 AS Olimpia Lions to compete in Súper Liga Americana de Rugby. Olimpia Lions was an offshoot of the Club Olimpia sports club. The team was re-branded ahead of the 2023 Super Rugby Americas season as "Yacare XV". The team's name and logo image are based on yacare caiman, a mid-size species of caiman native to Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia and adjacent parts of Brazil. Rugby Sevens At The 2022 South American Games
Rugby sevens competitions at the 2022 South American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay were held between 7 and 9 October 2022 at the Estadio Héroes de Curupayty located within the Parque Olímpico cluster in Luque, a sub-venue outside Asunción. Two medal events were scheduled to be contested: a men's and women's tournament. A total of 192 athletes (84 athletes–7 teams for men and 108 athletes–9 teams for women) competed in the events. Both tournaments were open competitions, however, players must be at least 17 years old at the start of the tournament. The top two teams in each tournament (excluding Chile (in both tournaments) and Brazil (in the women's tournament)) qualified for the 2023 Pan American Games rugby sevens competitions, plus Chile which qualified automatically as the 2023 Pan American Games hosts.
