Estadio Guillermón Moncada
Estadio Guillermón Moncada is a multi-use stadium in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. It is the second largest baseball stadium in Cuba and comfortably seats 25,000 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated on February 24, 1964. It is a project of the Architect Emilio Castro. The stadium is named after the Cuban patriot Guillermón Moncada, the "Ebony Giant", who was one of the 29 Generals of the Wars of Independence. Born in Santiago de Cuba, he participated in the three wars against Spain. He died in 1896 of tuberculosis in this city. Stadio Guillermon Moncada
Stadio (literally, ''Stadium'') is an Italian pop rock band formed in 1977. The members are Giovanni Pezzoli (drums), Roberto Drovandi (bass guitar), Andrea Fornili (guitar), and Gaetano Curreri (vocals and keyboard). Formation and early recordings The group had a long-standing arrangement as an accompanying band to Lucio Dalla, a Bologna-born singer. Stadio had its first notable public appearance in the mid-1970s, when the group appeared on Lucio Dalla's 1975 collaborative album with Roberto Roversi, '' Anidride Solforosa'' (Italian for "sulfur dioxide"). The members of Stadio on this album were Giovanni Pezzoli playing the drums, Marco Nanni playing the bass and Fabio Liberators playing the keyboard. Avispas de Santiago de Cuba (English: Santiago de Cuba Wasps) is a baseball team in the Cuban National Series based in Estadio Guillermón Moncada in Santiago de Cuba. The ''Avispas'' (Wasps) are historically one of the most successful teams in the National Series, the main domestic competition in post-revolutionary Cuban baseball.
