Estación San Fernando, is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado, located in San Fernando, Chile . It is the main railway station in the Colchagua Province. It is located on Quechereguas avenue. Estación San Fernando is part of the Red Sur EFE, the TerraSur inter-city service has a stop here. Metrotrén commuter service terminate at this station. The Ramal Pichilemu diverge from here, originally to the city of Pichilemu (railway station) but the line was closed on 1987, operating today as far as Estación Peralillo. The steam locomotive hauled, Tren del Vino ''(Wine Train)'', is a turistic train that operates every Saturday between Estación San Fernando and Estación Paniahue (in Santa Cruz). San Fernando, Chile
San Fernando is the capital of the province of Colchagua, in central Chile, and the second most populated urban center of the O'Higgins Region. Located close to the Tinguiririca River (a tributary of the Rapel) in a fertile valley, San Fernando sits 339 m (1,112 feet) above sea level. Founded in 1742, it became the provincial capital in 1840. Culture San Fernando is famous for its rodeos, thanks to its location at the heart of the country. The surrounding area yields wheat, forage crops, rice, legumes and grapes. There is also a brand of Chilean wine called ''San Fernando''. Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (abbreviated EFE, lit. ''State Railway Company'') is the national railway and the oldest state-run enterprise in Chile. TerraSur
TerraSur (previously known as EFE Chillán) is a Chilean Inter-city rail service, opened in 2001 between Santiago and Chillán, on the ''Chilean Central Valley''. It is operated by the ''Trenes Regionales Terra S.A.'', a subsidiary of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE). Covering almost 400 km in less than 5 hours, it is the fastest public transportation between those cities. Currently it is one of the only inter-city services that still operates in the country, (the other intercity rail service is the Alameda-Temuco train, a seasonal train) and is the fastest rail service in South America, with an operational speed reaching 150 km/h. Metrotrén
The Metrotrén (Spanish compound for ''metro'', ' subway' + ''tren'', 'train') was a Chilean commuter rail and regional rail service operated by the state-owned rail company EFE. The system started as a line between Santiago and San Fernando, unifying between them the city of Rancagua and other 23 towns in the Metropolitan and O'Higgins regions. This line was first connected with the Santiago Metro at Alameda station, which gave the name to the service.
