Esporte Clube Ipitanga da Bahia Ltda., commonly known as Ipitanga, is a Brazilian football club based in Senhor do Bonfim, Bahia state. They competed in the Série C twice. History The club was founded on September 20, 2003, in Lauro de Freitas. Ipitanga won the Campeonato Baiano Second Level in 2004. The club moved to Terra Nova in 2005, then played in Madre de Deus from 2006 to 2007. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Lauro de Freitas is a municipality in Bahia, Brazil. It covers and a population of 201,635 (2020 est.). Lauro de Freitas has a population density of 3,376 inhabitants per square kilometer. It is located from the state capital of Bahia, Salvador. The Campeonato Baiano Second Division are the second tier level of the football tournaments for the Bahia state league. The competitions are organized by the Bahia Football Federation. Usually, the champions of a division are promoted in the next year to the immediately upper level. History The Second Level of the Bahia State Championship is competed since 1922, and was not held from 1924 to 1934, in 1938, from 1942 to 1964, in 1966, in 1969, in 1970, from 1972 to 1974, from 1976 to 1980 and in 2005.
