Espen Harald Bjerke
Espen Harald Bjerke (born 12 April 1980) is a Norwegian cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who represents Lillehammer SK. He took part in his first junior World Championship in 1999 where he came 13th. He made his World Cup debut in 2001 with a 20th place. His best World Cup placing is (as of 2007) a fourth place in 2005. He had the record of highest VO2max (maximum amount of oxygen uptake) with 96.0 milliliter per kilogram per minute (7.3 liter/min, 76 kg body weight), set in 2005. Lillehammer Skiklub is a Norway, Norwegian skiing (Nordic skiing, Nordic and alpine skiing, alpine) club from Lillehammer, Norway. It was founded in 1883. It is best known for arranging Birkebeinerrennet together with Rena IL. The 2008–09 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was a multi-race tournament over the season for cross-country skiers. It was the 28th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 22 November 2008 with 15 km freestyle races for women in Gällivare, won by Charlotte Kalla of Sweden. The 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was a multi-race tournament over the season for cross-country skiers. It was the 27th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The season began on 27 October 2007 with 800m sprint races for women in Düsseldorf, won by Natalia Matveeva of Russia, who took her first World Cup victory. The season concluded with World Cup Finals, a mini-tour held in Bormio, Italy. Finnish skier Virpi Kuitunen won the overall women's cup for the 2nd consecutive season and Lukáš Bauer of Czech Republic won the overall men's cup.
