Beitostølen
Beitostølen is a village in Øystre Slidre Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located at an elevation of about above mean sea level on the southern edge of the Valdresflye mountain plateau. The villages of Skammestein and Hegge lie about to the southeast of Beitostølen. The lake Øyangen lies a short distance to the southwest of the village. Nikolay Pankratov
Nikolay Vladimirovich Pankratov (russian: Ðиколай Владимирович Панкратов; born December 23, 1982 in Sverdlovsk) is a Russian cross-country skier who competed between 1999 and 2013. He won two medals in the 4 × 10 km at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a silver in 2007 and a bronze in 2005, and finished 10th in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit at the 2005 championships in Oberstdorf. Pankratov also finished eighth in the 4 × 10 km event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. His only individual win was in a 10 km event in Italy in 2003. Andrus Veerpalu
Andrus Veerpalu (born 8 February 1971) is a retired Estonian cross-country skier. He is Estonia's most successful Winter Olympian, having won the gold medal in men's 15 km classical in 2002 and 2006, and silver in men's 50 km classical in 2002. Vincent Vittoz
Vincent Vittoz (born 17 July 1975 in Annecy, Haute-Savoie) is a French former cross-country skier, non-commissioned officer and coach. He grew up in the town of La Clusaz in the Northern French Alps and has been competing since 1982. He made his FIS Cross-Country World Cup debut in January 1996 in Nové Město na Moravě, finishing 22nd in a 15 km classical race. He won a gold medal in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit at the 2005 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf. As of 2018 Vittoz is the only French cross-country skiing world champion. Vittoz's best overall team finish at the Winter Olympics was a fourth place in the 4 × 10 km relay events in Turin in the 2006 and in Vancouver in 2010. Mathias Fredriksson
Mathias Fredriksson (born 11 February 1973 in Uddevalla, Västra Götaland County) is a Swedish former cross-country skier who has competed since 1993. He earned a bronze medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Fredriksson's best Olympic finish was at these same Olympics with a tenth in the 50 km event. Fredriksson has won four medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships; two silvers (15 km and 4 × 10 km: both 2001) and two bronzes (4 × 10 km relay: 2003, 2007). He has 34 victories on the national, FIS, and World Cup levels at various distances since 1993. He won the World Cup in the 2002–03 season. Fredriksson has a brother, Thobias Fredriksson, at the same professional level. He is married to Emma Helena Nilsson. Hans Anders Södergren (born 17 May 1977 in Söderhamn, Hälsingland) is a Swedish cross-country skier who has competed since 1999. He earned a bronze medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and also finished 5th in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit event at those same Olympics. In the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver he won a gold medal with the Swedish team in the 4 × 10 km relay. Jens Arne Svartedal (born February 14, 1976) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier who competed in the World Cup between 1999 and 2010. He represented Trøsken IL from Sarpsborg in Norway. His greatest achievement is winning the individual sprint gold medal at the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo. He also has a silver medal in the Team sprint event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Svartedal has seventeen cross-country victories since 2001, mostly in the sprint races. Anders Aukland
Anders Aukland (born 12 September 1972 in Tønsberg) is a professional Norwegian cross-country skier who has won both Olympic and World Championship gold medals. He lives in Oslo. Aukland also used to compete in athletics, and is a former national champion in 5000 meters (1995) and 10,000 metres (1996 and 1997) as well as cross-country running. He has represented Tønsberg FIK and IK Tjalve. In his only international athletics competition he finished seventh in 5000 m at the 1991 European Junior Championships. Aukland received the Egebergs Ærespris in 2001. On 7 March 2004, Aukland won the Vasaloppet in Sweden, becoming the second Norwegian to accomplish this feat after 1971 winner Ole Ellefsæter. Rukatunturi
Rukatunturi ( fi, Ruka) is a high fell and a ski resort in Kuusamo, Finland. Apart from downhill skiing, there are over 500 km of cross-country skiing tracks. Also snowmobiles can be rented to enjoy some of the area's 600 km of snowmobile routes (of which 100 km are safari organizers' private routes). Ruka is also the southern end of the Karhunkierros hiking trail. The total of trails in Ruka and Kuusamo area is: 160 km of hiking trails, 605 km of biking routes, 350 km of classified paddling routes (including class 1–4 whitewater paddling) and 100 km of boating routes. In winter 1954, the first slope, now called "Eturinne" ("Front Slope"), was opened. The current number of slopes is 29, operated with 20 ski lifts (one high-speed detachable chair with bubble).
