Espacio Carta Abierta
Espacio Carta Abierta or Carta Abierta (English: ''Open Letter Spot'') is a group of Argentine intellectuals who formed in March 2008 in defense of the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner government, which was facing a conflict with the agricultural sector. Members of Espacio Carta Abierta made their first public appearance on 13 May of the same year in the Gandhi library, in Buenos Aires, present were Horacio Verbitsky, Nicolás Casullo, Ricardo Forster and Jaime Sorín. This was where they presented their first open letter, which was signed by more than 750 intellectuals and artists. Open Letter
An open letter is a Letter (message), letter that is intended to be read by a wide audience, or a letter intended for an individual, but that is nonetheless widely distributed intentionally. Open letters usually take the form of a letter (message), letter addressed to an individual but provided to the public through newspapers and other media, such as a letter to the editor or blog. Especially common are critical open letters addressed to political leaders. Letters patent are another form of open letter in which a legal document is both mailed to a person by the government and publicized so that all are made aware of it. Octavio Getino
Octavio Getino (August 6, 1935 in León, Spain – October 1, 2012) was an Argentine film director and writer who is best known for co-founding, along with Fernando Solanas, the '' Grupo Cine Liberación'' and the school of Third Cinema. Getino was born in Spain and migrated to Argentina in the 1950s. In 1964 he was awarded the ''Premio Casa de las Américas'' for his short-stories book ''Chulleca''. Getino also left a number of essays on cinema and sociology. From 1989 to 1990, Getino led the Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía (INCAA). He died of cancer at 77, on October 1, 2012. Juan Gelman
Juan Gelman (3 May 1930 – 14 January 2014) was an Argentine poet. He published more than twenty books of poetry between 1956 and his death in early 2014. He was a naturalized citizen of Mexico, country where he arrived as a political exile of the Military Junta. In 2007, Gelman was awarded the Cervantes Prize, the most important in Spanish literature. His works celebrate life but are also tempered with social and political commentary and reflect his own painful experiences with the politics of Argentina. Néstor García Canclini (born 1939) is an Argentine-born academic and anthropologist known for his theorization of the concept of "hybridity." Biography García Canclini was born December 1, 1939 in La Plata, Argentina. Three years after receiving his PhD in philosophy at the University of La Plata in 1975, thanks to a scholarship awarded from CONICET (The National Scientific and Technical Research Council), García Canclini also received another PhD in philosophy from the Paris Nanterre University. León Ferrari (September 3, 1920 – July 25, 2013) was an Argentine contemporary conceptual artist. During his extended art career (1954-2013), his artworks often protested the Argentinian government, the imperialist west, and the Church. Ferrari's protest piece "Western and Christian Civilization", which depicted a near life-size Christ hanging crucified on an American fighter jet, attracted controversy when he created it in 1965, and it has been exhibited many times since. José Pablo Feinmann
José Pablo Feinmann (29 March 1943 – 17 December 2021) was an Argentine philosopher, writer, playwright, and television host. He also penned several screenplays for domestic film production and international coproductions. Born to Abraham and Elena (de Albuquerque) Feinmann, Feinmann was a Peronist Youth militant during the 1970s, considering Peronism as a real mass movement with the potential to change the country for the better. Nevertheless, he opposed armed violence to achieve political ends, criticizing the foco theory of Che Guevara which, years after the Cuban Revolution, became popular in some sectors of the Marxist-Peronist movement, such as Montoneros. Feinmann abandoned Peronism in the 1990s, during the neoliberal government of Carlos Menem. He later became a supporter of left-wing Peronist president Cristina Fernandez.
