''Eskimo Snow'' is the third studio album by American band Why?. It was released by Anticon on September 22, 2009. Production The album was recorded in February 2007. When asked to compare it to his previous albums, Yoni Wolf said: "This record, ''Eskimo Snow'', is really the least hip-hop out of anything I've ever been involved with. I mean, they feel like song-songs with-- I don't want to say a typical verse-chorus structure, but they're song-songs." Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Eskimo Snow'' received an average score of 76% based on 17 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Marisa Brown of AllMusic gave the album 3.5 stars out of 5, calling it "a dynamic, nearly poppy record that finds lead singer Yoni Wolf slightly less verbose and esoteric than in the past." Why? (styled as WHY?) is an American alternative hip hop and indie rock band. The band was founded in 2004 by Cincinnati rapper and singer Yoni Wolf, who had been using Why? as his stage name since 1997. In addition to Wolf, who serves as lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, the band consists of multi-instrumentalists and backing vocalists Doug McDiarmid and Matt Meldon, and drummer and backing vocalist Josiah Wolf, who is Yoni Wolf's older brother. The band has released six studio albums, along with several extended plays, demo albums, and live albums, since their inception. Their first album, 2005's ''Elephant Eyelash'', came two years after Yoni Wolf's final solo release as Why?. Jeremy Ylvisaker is a multi-instrumentalist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a member of the indie rock bands Alpha Consumer and The Cloak Ox. Career He is a member of Alpha Consumer along with Michael Lewis and JT Bates. The band has released three albums, including ''Kick Drugs Out of America'' (2011). He is also a member of The Cloak Ox along with Andrew Broder of Fog, Mark Erickson and Dosh. In 2011, the band released the debut EP ''Prisen''. In the same year, It was announced that The Cloak Ox is a winner of the City Pages "Picked to Click" poll. Fog is an American indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1999. The band is fronted by Andrew Broder, and for a time included Mark Erickson and Tim Glenn. After ending the project in 2008, Broder announced its return as a solo project in 2014. Most of Fog's releases have been put out by Lex Records or Ninja Tune.
