Erzurum Ice Hockey Arena
Erzurum GSIM Ice Arena ( tr, Erzurum GSİM Buz Salonu), is an indoor ice hockey arena located at Yakutiye district of Erzurum, eastern Turkey. It was opened in 2009. The arena complex, owned by the Youth and Sport Directorate of Erzurum Province (GSİM), consists of two Olympic-size rinks in two buildings constructed side by side. The bigger venue has a seating capacity for 3,000 people while the smaller hall holds 500 spectators. 3000-seat hall hosts the men's ice hockey team of the Erzurum Gençlik SK and the 500-seat hall the women's team. Both teams play in the Turkish Ice Hockey Super League and the Turkish Ice Hockey Women's League respectively. Yakutiye is a municipality and district of Erzurum Province, Turkey. Its area is 945 km2, and its population is 190,373 (2022). It covers the central and northern part of the urban area of Erzurum. The 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held in Erzurum, Turkey from 12 to 17 February 2017. The event had initially been planned for Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas the 2019 EYOF had been planned for Erzurum. Ice hockey at the 2011 Winter Universiade was held from January 27 through February 6 at the Erzurum GSIM Ice Arena complex in Erzurum, generally called "3000 Ice Rink" and "500 Ice Rink" during Universiade in reference to the seating capacities of its two sheets of ice. In most cases, men's matches were played at 3000 Ice Rink and women's matches were played at 500 Ice Rink, although exceptions were made for the women's semifinals and medal games played in the larger rink, while some lower men's placement games were played in the smaller one. Erzurum
Erzurum (; ) is a city in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. It is the largest city and capital of Erzurum Province and is 1,900 meters (6,233 feet) above sea level. The Turkish Women's Ice Hockey League, also known as the Kadınlar Ligi in Turkish, is a women's amateur ice hockey league in Turkey.
