Erymanthos River
Erymanthos ( el, Ερύμανθος, la, Erymanthus) is a river in the western part of the Peloponnese in Greece. Its source is on the southern slope of the Mount Erymanthos, near the village Agrampela, Achaea. It flows towards the south through a rocky landscape and receives several small tributaries. The river flows into an area rich in pine trees and passes several small mountain villages including Tripotama. Beyond Tripotama it forms the border between Elis and Arcadia. It flows east of the Foloi oak forest. The river empties into the Alfeios 5 km west of the Ladon (river) confluence, near the village Tripotamia. The Peloponnese (), Peloponnesus (; el, Πελοπόννησος, Pelopónnēsos,(), or Morea is a peninsula and geographic regions of Greece, geographic region in southern Greece. Ladon (river)
The Ladon (Ancient Greek and Katharevousa: , ''Ládōn''; Demotic Greek: , ''Ládōnas'') is a river in the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It features in Greek mythology. It is a tributary to the river Alfeios, which empties into the Ionian Sea. It is long. Course The Ladon rises on the western slope of the Aroania mountain, near the village Kastriá, Kleitoria municipal unit, Achaea. It flows south, receives its left tributary Aroanios, flows along Kleitoria and turns southwest near the Arcadian border. Foloi ( el, Φολόη, Latin: ''Pholoe'') is a village and a former Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality in Elis (regional unit), Elis, West Greece, Greece. Kontovazaina ( el, Κοντοβάζαινα) is a village and a former municipality in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Gortynia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 137.496 km2. In 2011 its population was 386 for the village and 1,171 for the municipal unit. Achaea borders the municipal unit to the north and Elis to the west. Tripotamia (Greek: Τριποταμιά meaning "three rivers", before 1927: Μπέλεσι - ''Belesi'') is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Tropaia in the westernmost part of Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. It is situated on a hill above the left bank of the river Erymanthos, 3 km north of its confluence with the Alfeios. The Ladon, another tributary of the Alfeios, flows 2 km east of Tripotamia. Foloi Oak Forest
The Folóï oak forest ( el, Δρυοδάσος Φολόης) is an oak forest in southwestern Greece. It is located in the municipal unit Foloi, Elis, in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula. The Folóï oak forest is situated at an altitude of 688m, on the plateau of the Folóï mountain. It is an ecosystem unique in the Balkan peninsula and consists of a territory of , which is almost entirely covered by deciduous oaks that form a dense forest area. Mythology The Pholóē oak forest was known to Ancient Greeks, because of its proximity to many of their settlements in the Elis region. The mysterious beauty of the forest inspired them to believe that it was a habitat of centaurs and dryads.
