Ernesto McCausland
Ernesto McCausland Sojo (January 4, 1961– November 21, 2012) was a Colombian journalist, writer and filmmaker. Career McCausland began in journalism in 1982, as a reporter of crime stories for his home town newspaper El Heraldo. He later started to work in the genre of narrative journalism, becoming one of the best in multiple fields such as press, radio and TV in Colombia. At the same time, he conducted "Mundo Costeño", a narrative journalism program on the regional channel Telecaribe, where he highlighted the customs and traditions of the Colombian Caribbean Region. In the mid-1990s he worked as a news anchor for the QAP television news. Since 2007 he hosted ''A las 11'', an interview program on Telecaribe. Since 2008 he worked as co-anchor of Canal Caracol's "El Radar", program. McCausland conducted the Vallenato Legend Festival on several occasions. Barranquilla
Barranquilla () is the capital district of Atlántico Department in Colombia. It is located near the Caribbean Sea and is the largest city and third port in the Caribbean Coast region; as of 2018 it had a population of 1,206,319, making it Colombia's fourth-most populous city after Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali. Narrative Journalism, also referred to as literary journalism, is defined as creative nonfiction that contains accurate, well-researched information. It is related to immersion journalism, where a writer follows a subject or theme for a long period of time (weeks or months) and details an individual's experiences from a deeply personal perspective. Telecaribe
Telecaribe is a regional television network for the Caribbean region of Colombia. History The station was set up in the early 1980s in Valledupar, Colombia and was created by a local entrepreneur named Jose Jorge Dangond. It started as an unlicensed TV station and as a personal hobby with aficionado equipment brought from the United States, transmitting American movies and local vallenato musical groups, including first versions of the Vallenato Legend Festival. Dangond's family and friends in Valledupar nicknamed it ''Televallenato'' or ''Rope TV,'' because all the antennae and equipment were attached with ropes onto one of the highest buildings in the city. By 1986 the Colombian Ministry of Communications detected the channel's signal and seized all the equipment. Canal Caracol
Canals or artificial waterways are waterways or engineered channels built for drainage management (e.g. flood control and irrigation) or for conveyancing water transport vehicles (e.g. water taxi). They carry free, calm surface flow under atmospheric pressure, and can be thought of as artificial rivers. Vallenato Legend Festival
The Vallenato Legend Festival ( es, Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata) is one of the most important musical festivals in Colombia. The festival features a vallenato music contests for best performer of accordion, caja vallenata and guacharaca, as well as piqueria (battle of lyrics) and best song. It's celebrated every year in April in the city of Valledupar, Department of Cesar. Daniel Samper Pizano (born 8 June 1945) is a Colombian lawyer, journalist, and prolific writer. Career Samper attended the Gimnasio Moderno, where he began writing in the student newspaper ''El Aguilucho''. At the age of 19 he worked for the Colombian newspaper '' El Tiempo'' as a reporter. After graduating from high school, Samper studied law in the Pontifical Xavierian University and later attended graduate school for journalism at the University of Kansas, United States. He was also awarded the Nieman Fellowship by Harvard University. Héctor Rojas Herazo
Héctor Rojas Herazo (August 12, 1920 – April 11, 2002) was a Colombian novelist, poet, journalist and painter. Rojas was born in Tolú as son of Juan Emiro Rojas and Blance Berta Herazo. He was baptized on October 6, 1921. He started artistic works in his childhood and was taught in plastic arts by his cousin José Manuel González. Later he wrote as journalist for several papers.
