Ernest Greenhill, 1st Baron Greenhill
Ernest Greenhill, 1st Baron Greenhill OBE (23 April 1887 – 18 February 1967), was a Scottish politician. Greenhill was the son of Maurice Greenhill. He was a member of the Glasgow Corporation. Greenhill was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1947 New Year Honours. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. Townhead ( gd, Ceann a' Bhaile, sco, Tounheid) is an area of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated immediately north-east of Glasgow city centre and contains a residential sector (redeveloped from an older neighbourhood in the mid 20th century, largely with tower blocks), a commercial/industrial sector and an educational zone containing the main campuses of both the University of Strathclyde and City of Glasgow College.
