Ernest Arrighi De Casanova
Ernest Arrighi de Casanova, 2nd Duke of Padoue (26 September 1814, Paris – 28 March 1888) was a French Bonapartist politician. Son of the 1st Duke of Padoue. He was a Senator from 1853 to 1870, and was Minister of the Interior in 1859. During the French Third Republic he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1876 to 1881. Bonapartism
Bonapartism (french: Bonapartisme) is the political ideology supervening from Napoleon Bonaparte and his followers and successors. The term was used to refer to people who hoped to restore the House of Bonaparte and its style of government. In this sense, a ''Bonapartiste'' was a person who either actively participated in or advocated for conservative, monarchist and imperial political factions in 19th-century France. Bonapartism emerged in 1814 with the first fall of Napoleon. However, it only developed doctrinal clarity and cohesion by the 1840s. The Appel au peuple (Plebiscite) was a Bonapartist parliamentary group during the early years of the French Third Republic. They advocated a plebiscite by which the people would choose the form of government, which they assumed would be a revival of the Second French Empire.
