Ermac
Ermac is a fictional character in the '' Mortal Kombat'' fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. Debuting as an unlockable character in ''Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3'' (1995), he is an amalgam of the souls of deceased warriors and possesses telekinetic abilities. The character originated from rumors alleging he appeared in the original 1992 game as either a glitch or a hidden character, which were perpetuated by video game magazine ''Electronic Gaming Monthly'' (''EGM''). His name was derived from a diagnostics menu in the first game that displayed the text "error macro" as ''ERMACS''. Although the rumors were false, growing interest led to him becoming an official playable character. Ermac has appeared in other ''Mortal Kombat'' media such as the animated series '' Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm'' and the web series '' Mortal Kombat: Legacy''. He has received positive reception for his special abilities, character development, and Fatality ...

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
''Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3'' is a fighting game in the '' Mortal Kombat'' series, developed and released by Midway to arcades in 1995. It is a standalone update of 1995's earlier ''Mortal Kombat 3'' with an altered gameplay system, additional characters like the returning favorites Kitana and Scorpion who were missing from ''Mortal Kombat 3'', and some new features. Several home port versions of the game were soon released after the arcade original. Although none were completely identical to the arcade version, the Sega Saturn port came closest. Some later home versions followed the arcade original with more accuracy. Some versions were released under different titles: ''Mortal Kombat Advance'' for the Game Boy Advance in 2001 and ''Ultimate Mortal Kombat'' for the Nintendo DS in 2007. An iOS version recreating the game using a 3D graphics engine was released by Electronic Arts in 2010. ''Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3'' was mostly well-received and has been considered a high po ...

Mortal Kombat
''Mortal Kombat'' is an American media franchise centered on a series of video games originally developed by Midway Games in 1992. The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but when that idea fell through, a science fantasy-themed fighting game was created instead. Still, the developers paid homage to him with Johnny Cage (one of the main characters in the franchise), a fictional film star whose personal style resembles Van Damme's. The original ''Mortal Kombat'' was the first fighting game to introduce a secret fighter, reached if the player fulfilled a set of requirements. The original game spawned many sequels with several action-adventure games. It also has a comic book series and a card game. Movie producer Larry Kasanoff licensed the rights to the game in the early 1990s and produced the first movie of the franchise. Kasanoff also produced the second mov ...

Fatality (Mortal Kombat)
Fatality is the name given to a gameplay feature in the ''Mortal Kombat'' series of fighting video games, in which the victor of the final round in a match inflicts a brutal and gruesome finishing move onto their defeated opponent. Prompted by the announcer saying "Finish Him/Her", players have a short time window to execute a Fatality by entering a specific button and joystick combination, while positioned at a specific distance from the opponent. The Fatality and its derivations are arguably the most notable features of the ''Mortal Kombat'' series and have caused a large cultural impact and Mortal Kombat controversies, controversies. Conception The origins of the Fatality concept has been traced back to several violent Asian martial arts media. In ''The Street Fighter'' (1974), a Japanese martial arts grindhouse film, Sonny Chiba performs x-ray fatality finishing moves, which at the time was seen as a gimmick to distinguish it from other martial arts films. Macro (computer Science)
In computer programming, a macro (short for "macro instruction"; ) is a rule or pattern that specifies how a certain input should be mapped to a replacement output. Applying a macro to an input is known as macro expansion. The input and output may be a sequence of lexical tokens or characters, or a syntax tree. Character macros are supported in software applications to make it easy to invoke common command sequences. Token and tree macros are supported in some programming languages to enable code reuse or to extend the language, sometimes for domain-specific languages. Macros are used to make a sequence of computing instructions available to the programmer as a single program statement, making the programming task less tedious and less error-prone. (Thus, they are called "macros" because a "big" block of code can be expanded from a "small" sequence of characters.) Macros often allow positional or keyword parameters that dictate what the conditional assembler program generate ...

Glitch
A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system, such as a transient fault that corrects itself, making it difficult to troubleshoot. The term is particularly common in the computing and electronics industries, in circuit bending, as well as among players of video games. More generally, all types of systems including human organizations and nature experience glitches. A glitch, which is slight and often temporary, differs from a more serious bug which is a genuine functionality-breaking problem. Alex Pieschel, writing for ''Arcade Review'', said: bug' is often cast as the weightier and more blameworthy pejorative, while 'glitch' suggests something more mysterious and unknowable inflicted by surprise inputs or stuff outside the realm of code." Etymology Some reference books, including ''Random House's American Slang'', claim that the term comes from the German word ''glitschen'' ("to slip") and the Yiddish word ''glitshn'' ("to slide", "to skid"). Either way, it is a relatively n ...
