Eric Murray (footballer)
Eric McIntyre Murray (12 December 1941 – 7 November 2016) was a Scottish Association football, footballer who played for Kilmarnock F.C., Kilmarnock and St Mirren F.C., St Mirren as a wing half. Murray was a regular part of the Kilmarnock side that won the list of Scottish football champions, Scottish league championship in 1964–65 in Scottish football, 1964–65. Kilmarnock then played in the 1965–66 European Cup against Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid; Murray was tasked with marking the Hungarian great Ferenc Puskás. Symington, South Ayrshire
Symington is a conservation village in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located in Symington parish, covering , and lies close to the A77 road from Ayr to Glasgow. Its church, built in 1160, remains one of the finest examples of a Norman church in Scotland. Ferenc Puskás
Ferenc Puskás (, ; born Ferenc Purczeld; 1 April 1927 – 17 November 2006) was a Hungarian football player and manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and the sport's first international superstar. A forward, he scored 84 goals in 85 international matches for Hungary and played four international matches for Spain. He became an Olympic champion in 1952 and led his nation to the final of the 1954 World Cup. He won three European Cups (1959, 1960, 1966), ten national championships (five Hungarian and five Spanish Primera División) and eight top individual scoring honors. The Scottish football champions are the winners of the highest league in Scottish football, namely the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1890 until 1998, the Scottish Premier League (SPL) from 1998 until 2013 and the Scottish Premiership thereafter. The SFL was established in 1890, initially as an amateur league until professionalism in Scottish football was legalised in 1893. At the end of the first season Dumbarton and Rangers finished level on points at the top of the table.
