Eric L. Boyd
Eric L. Boyd is a software engineer who also writes material for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game. Career Eric L. Boyd has written articles and books for the Greyhawk setting, and has co-authored a number of Forgotten Realms campaign supplements. Some of his works include ''Demihuman Deities'', (1998), ''Faiths and Pantheons'' (2002) with Erik Mona, and ''Serpent Kingdoms'' (2004) with Ed Greenwood and Darrin Drader. He also contributed to the ''Forgotten Realms Player's Guide'' for ''D&D'' 4th Edition. He first contributed to the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting in June 2008. Boyd used to run a campaign set in the Forgotten Realms, specifically a play by email set in Waterdeep, City of Splendors, revolving around the Waterdhavian nobility called "Hidden Splendors". PBEM
A play-by-mail game (also known as a PBM game, PBEM game, or a turn-based game) is a game played through postal mail, email or other digital media. Correspondence chess and Go were among the first PBM games. ''Diplomacy'' has been played by mail since 1963, introducing a multi-player aspect to PBM games. Flying Buffalo Inc. pioneered the first commercially available PBM game in 1970. A small number of PBM companies followed in the 1970s, with an explosion of hundreds of startup PBM companies in the 1980s at the peak of PBM gaming popularity, many of them small hobby companies—more than 90 percent of which eventually folded. Dungeons & Dragons Game Designers
A dungeon is a room or cell in which prisoners are held, especially underground. Dungeons are generally associated with medieval castles, though their association with torture probably belongs more to the Renaissance period. An oubliette (from french ''oublier'' meaning to ''forget'') or bottle dungeon is a basement room which is accessible only from a hatch or hole (an ''angstloch'') in a high ceiling. Victims in oubliettes were often left to starve and dehydrate to death, making the practice akin to—and some say an actual variety of—immurement. Etymology The word ''dungeon'' comes from French ''donjon'' (also spelled ''dongeon''), which means "keep", the main tower of a castle. The first recorded instance of the word in English was near the beginning of the 14th century when it held the same meaning as ''donjon''. ''Faiths & Avatars'' is an ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' Forgotten Realms campaign expansion book. Contents ''Faiths & Avatars'' lists, ranks, rates, explains and details everything about the gods in the Faerûnian pantheon, even those who have died. The book provides 45 detailed descriptions, and four new priest sub-classes. Each god has a description, statistics, and personal history, as well as a description of its Avatar - the god's manifestation in the mortal world and the form that adventurers would be most likely to encounter. The faiths section of each god details that god's church structure, dogma, day-to-day activities, major centers of worship, affiliated religious orders, priestly vestments, adventuring garb, holy days and important ceremonies. Julia Martin is a game designer and editor who has worked on a number of products for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy roleplaying game. Career Julia Martin worked for Game Designers' Workshop until she left in 1991 to work for TSR. Martin worked as an editor for the Forgotten Realms setting, editing works such as the ''Volo's Guide'' series and the ''Powers and Pantheons'' and '' Demihuman Deities'' supplements; with Eric L.
