Eric Donovan
Eric Donovan (born 26 July 1985) is an Irish professional boxer. As an amateur he was a five-time Irish national champion and won bronze medals at the 2009 European Union Championships and the 2010 European Championships. His new website has launched: www.ericdonovan.ie Amateur career Donovan boxed for St. Michael's Boxing Club, Athy, where he was trained by Dominic O'Rourke. He debuted as a senior boxer in the bantamweight division before moving to featherweight and in 2007 to lightweight. His first Irish Elite title came in 2004 at bantamweight with a points victory over Brian Gillen in the final. Donovan would go on to win five Irish Elite titles. In 2004, he competed at the Youth World Championship in Jeju, South Korea, losing in the round of 32 to Hoandry Lomba from Cuba. Donovan competed at the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang, China. Athy
Athy ( ; ) is a market town at the meeting of the River Barrow and the Grand Canal in south-west County Kildare, Ireland, 72 kilometres southwest of Dublin. A population of 9,677 (as of the 2016 census) makes it the sixth largest town in Kildare and the 50th largest in the Republic of Ireland, with a growth rate of approximately 60 per cent since the 2002 census. 2012–13 World Series Of Boxing
The 2012–13 World Series of Boxing was the third edition of the World Series of Boxing since its establishment in 2010 and runs from November 2012 to May 2013. The event was organized by the International Boxing Association (AIBA). The twelve teams, divided into two groups of six, contain a majority of boxers from the country in which they are based along with a smaller number of overseas boxers. The Team final bouts were hosted in Astana, Kazakhstan. One interesting fact about the 2012-13 World Series of Boxing is that it was the first season to feature a knockout stage, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. Additionally, the British Lionhearts finished the regular season with a perfect record of 10 wins out of 10 matches, becoming the first team in World Series of Boxing history to achieve this feat. Albert Selimov
Albert Shevketovich Selimov (; born 5 April 1986) is a Russian former amateur boxer of Lezgin descent. He is best known for being the only man to defeat Vasiliy Lomachenko in the amateur ranks. Competing for Russia he won the 2007 world title, the 2008 World Cup, and two European titles, in 2006 and 2010. After failing to qualify for the 2012 Olympics he moved to Azerbaijan and placed second at the 2015 World Championships and fifth at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Jai Bhagwan (born 11 May 1985), is a two-time Asian Championships medallist and a bronze winner at the 2010 Commonwealth Games who also represented India in Boxing in the lightweight (60 kg) division at the 2012 London Olympics. 2009 AIBA World Boxing Championships
The 2009 AIBA World Boxing Championships were held in Milan, Italy, from September 1, 2009 to September 12, 2009, in the Mediolanum Forum. It was the biggest World Championships in AIBA history. The competition was under the supervision of the world's governing body for amateur boxing, the AIBA. Originally, Cameroon, Trinidad and Tobago and Uzbekistan each expressed interest in hosting the championships. However, they did not submit a final application and were therefore withdrawn from the running. This left Italy and South Korea remaining, who were the final two countries in contention during the bidding process to host the 2009 championships. The city of Milan in Italy was then chosen to host the competition. Domenico Valentino (born 17 May 1984 in Marcianise) is a boxer from Italy. The hard punching Valentino won a bronze medal at lightweight at the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Pula, Croatia. He participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics. There he was stopped in the quarterfinals of the Lightweight (60 kg) division by Kazakhstan's eventual bronze medalist Serik Yeleuov.
