Eren Derdiyok
Eren Derdiyok (born 12 June 1988) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a striker. He is a former Swiss international. Early life Derdiyok was born in Basel, Switzerland, into a Kurdish family from Turkey. He also holds Turkish citizenship. Club career Old Boys Basel From an early age Derdiyok played his youth football for the Basel local football club BSC Old Boys Basel and advanced through the ranks. In summer 2005 he advanced from their U-18 team to the first team, who played in the Swiss 1. Liga the fourth tier of Swiss football. He immediately became regular player and scored 10 goals in just 18 appearances in the first half of the season. In the second round of the 2005–06 Swiss Cup OB were drawn at home in the Schützenmatte against FC Basel. The match took place on 22 October and Basel walked away with a 6–1 victory. Turkish Citizenship
Turkish nationality law is based primarily on the principle of ''jus sanguinis''. BSC Young Boys (YB by short abbreviation ) are a Swiss sports club based in Bern, Switzerland. Its first team has won 15 Swiss league championships and six Swiss Cups. The Wankdorf Stadium (; between 2005 and 2020 known as Stade de Suisse) is a football stadium in Bern, Switzerland. The second largest all-seater football stadium in Switzerland, it currently serves as the home ground of the Swiss football team BSC Young Boys. It was also one of the venues used during the UEFA Euro 2008. Heinz Hermann
Heinz Hermann (born 28 March 1958) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. With 118 international matches (15 goals) between 1978 and 1991 for the Switzerland national team he is record national player ahead of Alain Geiger and Stéphane Chapuisat. Club Herrmann was born in Zürich. On 1 July 1977, he moved from FC Seefeld Zürich to Grasshopper Club Zürich, where he became Swiss league champion four times and cup champion once. 2006–07 FC Basel Season
The 2006–07 season is Fussball Club Basel 1893's 114th in existence and the club's 13th consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football. FCB played their home matches in the St. Jakob-Park, in the Basel quarter St. Alban in the south-east of the city. Christian Gross
Christian Jürgen Gross (born 14 August 1954) is a Swiss football manager and former player who most recently coached Schalke 04. He played as a sweeper and central midfielder. Gross was manager of Basel from 1 July 1999 to 27 May 2009, winning four Swiss Super Leagues and four Swiss Cups. As manager of Tottenham Hotspur between November 1997 and September 1998, Gross became the first Swiss to manage in the Premier League. Playing career Gross began his playing career at SV Höngg before moving to Grasshopper in 1965, which he left in 1976. After two years at Lausanne-Sport and two seasons at Neuchâtel Xamax, he moved to Germany in 1980 to play for VfL Bochum of the Bundesliga.
