Erding, Germany
Erding () is a town in Bavaria, Germany, and capital of the rural district of the same name. It had a population of 36,469 in 2019. The original Erdinger Weissbier is a well-known Bavarian specialty. Erding is located around 31 kilometers northeast of central Munich, about a 30-minute drive by car. Regular S-Bahn trains connect to Munich and beyond. History Evidence of prehistoric hunter/gatherers in the Erding area dates to c. 6000 BC, findings including an axe made of deer antler. Excavations of two dwellings of at least 6.5 metres in length near Altenerding from c. 2500 BC provide the first evidence of permanent agricultural based inhabitants, while some twenty early Bronze Age graveyards from c. 1800 BC have been found in Langenpreising. Sara Nuru (born 19 August 1989) is a German fashion model and entrepreneur. She was the winner of the fourth cycle of ''Germany's Next Top Model''. Felix Schütz (born 3 November 1987) is a German former professional ice hockey player who played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Schütz was drafted in the fourth round, 117th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Schütz was drafted from the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after making the move to North America from playing in Germany with the Landshut Cannibals. Upon completing his second season in the QMJHL between the Sea Dogs and Val-d'Or Foreurs in 2006–07, Schütz returned to Germany to play professionally in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with ERC Ingolstadt. Philipp Bönig (born 20 March 1980) is a German former professional footballer who played as a left-back, and a manager. Career Youth Born in Erding (Bavaria), West Germany, Bönig started to play football at the local club Eintracht Freising. His first position was keeper but after a couple of matches he moved to the left offensive midfield. Dieter Brenninger
Dieter Brenninger (born 16 February 1944) is a former German footballer. Life Brenninger was born in Altenerding, and began his career with SpVgg Altenerding. In 1962 he transferred to FC Bayern Munich in the Regionalliga Süd. In 1965 Bayern was promoted into the German Bundesliga. He would go on to win the German Cup four times in 1966, 1967, 1969, and 1971. Additionally, Brenninger would claim the German Championship in 1969. His greatest honor was the European Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1967 over Rangers by a score of 1–0. He went on to play a total of 190 Bundesliga games for Bayern; scoring a total of 59 goals. In 1972, Brenninger transferred to VfB Stuttgart after a brief stop-over at Young Boys Bern. For VfB he would go on to play in 81 Bundesliga games while scoring 15 goals. Volker Press (March 28, 1939 in Erding/Oberbayern – October 15, 1993 in Tübingen) was a German historian. Life and career Volker Press studied history and English studies, English from 1957 to 1965 at the University of Munich. He completed his doctorate in 1966 with Friedrich Hermann Schubert with a dissertation on the Electorate of the Palatinate in the confessional age. After serving as an assistant at the University of Kiel and the Goethe University Frankfurt, University of Frankfurt, he took a post as a full professor (Professor#Main positions, Professor ordinarius) of modern history at the University of Giessen. John Flammang Schrank
On October 14, 1912, former saloonkeeper John Flammang Schrank (1876–1943) attempted to assassinate former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt while he was campaigning for the presidency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Schrank's bullet lodged in Roosevelt's chest after penetrating Roosevelt's steel eyeglass case and passing through a thick (50 pages) single-folded copy of the speech titled "Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual", which he was carrying in his jacket. Schrank was immediately disarmed (by Czech immigrant Frank Bukovsky) and captured; he might have been lynched had Roosevelt not shouted for Schrank to remain unharmed.
