Erattayar is a village in Udumbanchola taluk of Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the administrative centre of Erattayar panchayat which belongs to Kattappana block panchayat. Location Erattayar town is located south to Erattayar dam, a diversion dam built to supply water to Idukki reservoir. Erattayar Dam
Erattayar Dam (Malayalam: ഇരട്ടയാർ അണക്കെട്ട്) is a small diversion dam built on the Erattayar river in Erattayar Grama Panchayat near Kattappana town in Idukki district of Kerala, India. It acts mainly as a diversion dam to supply water to the Idukki Dam. Diversion of water from Erattayar forebay to Idukki reservoir is through a tunnel called Anchuruli tunnel which is 3771.9m long. Construction of the dam was completed in the year 1989. It is a small dam measuring only 46.3 m in length and 19.81 m in height. Idukki HE Project- Stage III- Kallar-Erattayar diversion scheme envisages creation of two forebays by means of diversion dams, one in river Kallar of storage capacity 28 Mcft.( 0.793 MCM) and another in river Erattayar of storage capacity 189 Mcft (5.352 MCM) in the upper reaches of river Perinjamkutty a tributary of Periyar. Udumbanchola is a taluk in Idukki district of Kerala state in India. This is in the high ranges. Nedumkandam is the major town and capital of Udumbanchola taluk. Mathikettan Shola National Park is located in Udumbanchola. Idukki Dam
The Idukki Dam is a double curvature arch dam constructed across the Periyar River in a narrow gorge between two granite hills locally known as '' Kuravan'' and ''Kurathi'' in Idukki, Kerala, India. At , it is one of the highest arch dams in Asia. It is constructed and owned by the Kerala State Electricity Board. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station in Moolamattom, which started generating power on 4 October 1975. The dam type is a concrete, double curvature parabolic, thin arc dam. The Indo-Canadian project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on February 17, 1976. This dam was constructed along with two other dams at Cheruthoni and Kulamavu. Cheruthoni () is a town on the banks of Cheruthoni River, a major tributary of the Periyar River, the second longest river in Kerala state, India. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings.
