Erasmo Catarino
Erasmo Catarino González Bernal (born November 25, 1977, Querétaro), is a Mexican singer and the first-place winner on the popular Mexican television show '' La Academia 4'' (2005). He was selected as the winner by the public. Early life Erasmo Catarino González is an indigenous Nahuatl and speaks the Nahuatl language fluently. He is married to Karla Sandoval. Before entering La Academia, González was a schoolteacher, teaching second grade in a primary school for Nahuatl children in Xalpatlahuac, Guerrero. He studied elementary education in Puebla, Puebla, and received his teaching degree there. Success Since he appeared on ''La Academia'' he has performed in several genres, but prefers "rancheras" especially. On July 3, 2005 he became the winner of the fourth Generation. La Academia
''La Academia'' (''The Academy'') is a Mexican reality musical talent television series shown on Azteca, that premiered in June 2002 and is currently in its thirteenth installment. Although the show itself is not affiliated with the Endemol franchise, which includes the "Star Academy" shows, it does share the competition format of many of the variants of the global franchise. Over the first seasons, the show was a reliable dominator of its time-slot, which was shown by its triumph over Televisa's ''Operación Triunfo Mexico'', in several countries including Chile, Peru and Venezuela. The rival show was only produced for one season, and was in fact the official Endemol entry in Mexico. Nahua Peoples
The Nahuas () are a group of the indigenous people of Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. They comprise the largest indigenous group in Mexico and second largest in El Salvador. The Mexica (Aztecs) were of Nahua ethnicity, and the Toltecs are often thought to have been as well, though in the pre-Columbian period Nahuas were subdivided into many groups that did not necessarily share a common identity. Nahuatl
Nahuatl (; ), Aztec, or Mexicano is a language or, by some definitions, a group of languages of the Uto-Aztecan language family. Varieties of Nahuatl are spoken by about Nahua peoples, most of whom live mainly in Central Mexico and have smaller populations in the United States. Nahuatl has been spoken in central Mexico since at least the seventh century CE. ''Desafío de Estrellas'' is a Mexican musical show produced and distributed by TV Azteca, the second most important network in the country. The format of the Desafío is similar to ''American Idol'' with contestants eliminated every week and a grand finale with the top contestants competing to win the first place prize. TV Azteca has, until 2006, produced two versions of the program, one in 2003 and the other in 2006. The 2003 version consisted only of former contestants of ''La Academia'', another TV Azteca-produced show which had already garnished two seasons and, in the process, taken away rating from Televisa, the prime network of the country.
