Equilibrium (band)
Equilibrium is a German symphonic folk metal band from Bavaria. The band's music combines elements of folk music, pagan metal, melodic black metal and symphonic metal with various other influences. Their riffs reflect traditional Germanic melodies. Their lyrical themes focus on Germanic tales and Germanic mythology. The songs of the band are almost always in German, although most recently they prioritized the English in their songs, mostly with their sixth album ''Renegades'' (2019). History The group toured with Commander and Sycronomica in 2005. The following year they signed a contract with the Nuclear Blast record label and on 27 June 2008 they released their second album, ''Sagas''. In February 2010, Equilibrium had to cancel their appearance at the Winterfire Festival in Germany "due to serious restructuring within the band". ''Renegades'' is the sixth studio album by the German folk metal band Equilibrium. It is also the first album featuring the band's new clean male vocalist and bassist Martin Berger (Skar Productions) and the new keyboardist Skadi Rosehurst. It was produced from September 2018 to March 2019. Music and lyrics The album, while maintaining some of their signature epic, folk metal roots, sees the band adopting more electronic and modern elements, including clean vocals. ''Armageddon'' is the fifth studio album by German folk metal band Equilibrium. Guitarist, producer and songwriter René Berthiaume considers ''Armageddon'' a heavier effort with darker lyrics than previous Equilibrium albums. It also features a higher usage of lyrics in English. Berthiaume said the band concluded some songs would work better sung in English. Song information The opening track "Sehnsucht" contains a quote from Albert Einstein about war and human warrior instinct. "Katharsis" contains lyrics which Berthiaume considers "quite socio-critical" and marks the band's first usage of a dobro. "Heimat" talks about how one may feel at home not only where he was born and raised, but simply everywhere. Hellfest (), also called Hellfest Summer Open Air, is a rock festival focusing on heavy metal music, held annually in June in Clisson, France. Its high attendance makes it the French music festival with the largest turnover. It is also one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe and the first to exist in France. It originated in another music festival, the Fury Fest, held from 2002 to 2005, in different areas of Pays de la Loire. Wolfchant
Wolfchant is a metal band formed in St. Oswald, Germany in August 2003 by Lokhi, Gaahnt, Skaahl, and Norgahd. Wolfchant's lyrics deal with legends and folk tales from Nordic mythology. In August 2005 they signed a contract with CCP Records, managed by Caleb Murrell-Smith. With the first full-length album ''Bloody Tales of Disgraced Lands'' (2005) the band gained supra-regional respect. In February 2007 Nattulv became a member of Wolfchant after former bass guitar Gaahnt quit the band for family reasons. Nattulv was replaced by Bahznar, for their album ''Determined Damnation'', which was released in April 2009. The band made a guest appearance in the ''Aqua Teen Hunger Force'' episode "Totem Pole", which aired in 2012.
