Equality (mathematics)
In mathematics, equality is a relationship between two quantities or, more generally two mathematical expressions, asserting that the quantities have the same value, or that the expressions represent the same mathematical object. The equality between and is written , and pronounced equals . The symbol "" is called an "equals sign". Two objects that are not equal are said to be distinct. For example: * x=y means that and denote the same object. * The identity (x+1)^2=x^2+2x+1 means that if is any number, then the two expressions have the same value. This may also be interpreted as saying that the two sides of the equals sign represent the same function. * \ = \ if and only if P(x) \Leftrightarrow Q(x). This assertion, which uses set-builder notation, means that if the elements satisfying the property P(x) are the same as the elements satisfying Q(x), then the two uses of the set-builder notation define the same set. This property is often expressed as "two sets that have th ...

Equals Sign
The equals sign (British English, Unicode) or equal sign (American English), also known as the equality sign, is the mathematical symbol , which is used to indicate equality in some well-defined sense. In an equation, it is placed between two expressions that have the same value, or for which one studies the conditions under which they have the same value. In Unicode and ASCII, it has the code point U+003D. It was invented in 1557 by Robert Recorde. History The etymology of the word "equal" is from the Latin word "''æqualis",'' as meaning "uniform", "identical", or "equal", from ''aequus'' ("level", "even", or "just"). The symbol, now universally accepted in mathematics for equality, was first recorded by Welsh mathematician Robert Recorde in ''The Whetstone of Witte'' (1557). The original form of the symbol was much wider than the present form. In his book Recorde explains his design of the "Gemowe lines" (meaning ''twin'' lines, from the Latin '' gemellus'')See also g ...

Equals (game)
The game Equals was a board game similar to Scrabble, but instead of tiles with letters combined to form words, it used tiles with numbers and basic arithmetic operations to form equations. The game was sold originally as Zahlenjux by Pelikan in Germany, and in Canada was licensed by Waddingtons. Objective Players draw tiles and lay down equations, starting in the center, and continue until no player can lay another tile, the same as in Scrabble. However, there are situations that do not occur in Scrabble, for example while you can extend equations, e.g. by putting 1x4 in front of 4x5=20 to form 1x4 = 4x5 = 20, you can not put 4x5 in front of 4x5=20 to form 4x5 = 4x5 = 20. The immediate right hand side of each part of the sequence must be correct by itself. A typical first play follows as: Note the use of the colon tile to represent the division operator, as opposed to the slash or obelus. The Equals
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things already mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with pronouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of pronoun ''thee'') when followed by a v ...

Equal (sweetener)
Equal is an American brand of artificial sweetener containing aspartame, acesulfame potassium, dextrose and maltodextrin. It is marketed as a tabletop sweetener by Merisant, a global corporation which also used to own the well-known NutraSweet brand when it was a subsidiary of Monsanto and which has headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, Switzerland, Mexico, and Singapore. In French Canada, Equal is known as "Égal". History In the early 1980s, Equal and its European counterpart, Canderel, were the first aspartame-based sweeteners to be sold to the public. Originally, the product was to be named Equa. The Chicago advertising agency for G. D. Searle, Tatham, Laird & Kudner, recommended adding an "L" to the end of the name, to imply its taste is equal to sugar. Products Equal is sold variously as a bottled powder ("Equal Spoonful"), in blue individual-serving packets, and as a dissolving tablet for use in beverages such as tea and coffee. Contents An Equal packet contains dextrose, as ...
