Joseph Gaspard Boucher
Joseph Gaspard Boucher (February 3, 1897 – April 18, 1955) was a journalist and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Madawaska County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1935 to 1952 and Restigouche—Madawaska in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member from 1953 to 1955. Known as Gaspard, he was born in Notre-Dame-du-Portage, Quebec and studied at the agricultural college at Sainte-Anne-de-La-Pocatière and McDonald College (now the Macdonald Campus of McGill University) at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. He worked as an agronomist for some time before moving to Edmundston, New Brunswick in 1920 where he became manager of the Royal Hotel acquired by his father. Gaspard Boucher married Annette Lamarche in 1921. The couple had nine children. Saint-Léonard, New Brunswick
Saint-Léonard is a community in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. It held town status prior to 2023. History Saint-Léonard was once a popular town during Prohibition in the United States as it was easy to smuggle alcohol to Van Buren. The town's economy is driven by potato farming and a J.D. Irving Limited sawmill. Saint-Léonard is officially bilingual but it is predominantly a Francophone community. On June 30, 2008, a truck carrying 12 million bees overturned near Saint-Léonard. This accident was the first of its kind in New Brunswick. On 1 January 2023, Saint-Léonard amalgamated with the village of Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska and parts of four local service districts to form the new town of Vallée-des-Rivières. The community's name remains in official use. New Brunswick Liberal Association
The New Brunswick Liberal Association (french: Association libérale du Nouveau-Brunswick), more popularly known as the New Brunswick Liberal ''Party'' or Liberal Party of New Brunswick, is one of the two major provincial political parties in New Brunswick, Canada. The party descended from both the Confederation Party and the Anti-Confederation Party whose members split into left-wing and right-wing groups following the creation of Canada as a nation in 1867. The current political organization emerged in the 1880s to serve as an organization housing the supporters of Premier Andrew G. Blair and, later, federal Liberal Party of Canada leader Wilfrid Laurier. Today, the New Brunswick Liberal Party follows the centre-left tradition.
