"Eon Break" is a song by American electronic music producer Porter Robinson, under the alias Virtual Self. It was released on October 25, 2017 as the first single from his debut EP under the alias, ''Virtual Self (EP), Virtual Self''. An official music video was uploaded to Robinson's YouTube channel, and features abstract computer-generated imagery accompanied by cryptic text referencing concepts like "angel", "virtual", and "void". Composition Porter Robinson wrote "Eon Break" for the ''Virtual Self (EP), Virtual Self'' EP, released through an alias of the same name where Robinson used the early 2000s as the main source of inspiration for sound and visuals. Porter Weston Robinson (born July 15, 1992) is an American DJ, record producer, musician, and singer from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Robinson began producing music in his childhood. He signed to Skrillex's record label Owsla, OWSLA at the age of 18, and released the extended play Spitfire (EP), ''Spitfire'' in 2011. He appeared on ''Billboard'''s 21 Under 21 list in 2012. Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's rave scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound that influenced jungle's bass-heavy sound. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat.
