Enoch West
Enoch James West (31 March 1886 – September 1965), nicknamed Knocker, was an English footballer who played as a centre forward for Nottingham Forest and Manchester United before being banned for match fixing. West was born in Hucknall Torkard in Nottinghamshire. He started his career for Sheffield United but failed to break into the first team. Club career Nottingham Forest He transferred in 1905 for a fee of £5 to Nottingham Forest and made his debut on 16 September 1905 in the 3–2 victory at home to Bury. West scored 14 league goals in his first season (1905/06) as Forest were relegated to the Second Division on goal average. In his second season (1906/07) Forest finished top of the Second Division partly due to West's 14 league goals. He top scored in 1907/08 (29 league goals) and 1908/09 (22 league goals) outscoring Grenville Morris. Hucknall Torkard
Hucknall, formerly Hucknall Torkard, is a market town in the Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Ashfield district of Nottinghamshire, England. It lies 7 miles north of Nottingham, 7 miles south-east of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, 9 miles from Mansfield and 10 miles south of Sutton-in-Ashfield. It is the second largest town in the Ashfield district after Sutton-in-Ashfield. Hucknall is north-west of Nottingham, on the west bank of the River Leen, Leen Valley, on land which rises from the River Trent, Trent Valley in the south and extends northwards to Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA).
