English Cricket Team In The West Indies In 2023–24
The England cricket team toured the West Indies in December 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The International Cricket Council (ICC) finalized the bilateral series in a press release. In May 2023, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the schedule for the series. The T20I series formed part of both teams' preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. During the third and final ODI of the series, West Indies players wore black armbands to mourn the deaths of former West Indies cricketers Joe Solomon and Clyde Butts and a minute's silence was observed prior to the start of the match. Shai Hope
Shai Diego Hope (born 10 November 1993) is a Barbadian cricketer, who plays international cricket for the West Indies cricket team. He is regarded as one of the best ODI batsmen in the contemporary world. At the age of 21, he was called into the West Indies squad after he scored a double century against the Windwards Islands at the Kensington Oval on the last day of the 2014–15 Regional Four Day Competition. Clyde Butts
Clyde Godfrey Butts (born 8 July 1957) is a former West Indies cricketer who batted right-handed and bowled off breaks. Later, he became a team selector. In a career spanning 14 seasons, he played 87 first class games, including seven Test matches for the West Indies between 1985 and 1988. The West Indies rarely selected spin bowlers when Butts was active – choosing instead to back their four fast bowlers – though he did play five matches on the Indian subcontinent, where teams traditionally select spin bowlers as the pitches are believed to suit them more. Sherfane Eviston Rutherford (born 15 August 1998) is a Guyanese cricketer. He made his international debut for the West Indies in December 2018. Domestic and T20 career Rutherford made his first-class debut for Guyana in the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition on 15 April 2017. Gudakesh Motie (born 29 March 1995) is a Guyanese cricketer who plays for Guyana in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a left-arm orthodox bowler. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in December 2021. Career Motie played for the West Indies under-19s at the 2014 Under-19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Kyle Rico Mayers (born 8 September 1992) is a Barbadian cricketer. He plays international cricket for West Indies cricket team in all formats. He was also in the West Indies under-19 squad for the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In February 2021, on his Test debut, Mayers scored 210 not out.
