Brandon King (cricketer)
Brandon Alexander King (born 16 December 1994) is a Jamaican cricketer. He was part of the West Indies' squad for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in November 2019. Domestic career King plays for Jamaica in domestic cricket, debuting in first-class cricket in the 2014-15 Regional Four Day Competition, and List A cricket in the 2015-16 Regional Super50. He was selected in the 9th round of the 2017 CPL player draft by the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. He made his Twenty20 debut for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League on 5 August 2017. In June 2018, King was named in the Cricket West Indies B Team squad for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament. Kingston, Jamaica
Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. List A Cricket
List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. Together with first-class and Twenty20 cricket, List A is one of the three major forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). West Indian Cricket Team Against Afghanistan In India In 2019–20
The Afghanistan cricket team played the West Indies cricket team in India in November and December 2019 to play one Test, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. It was the first Test match that Afghanistan played against the West Indies. The two teams had played each other ten times before, with the majority of matches in the Caribbean, with this being Afghanistan's fourth Test match. All the matches were played at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. 2020 Caribbean Premier League
The 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) or for sponsorship reasons, Hero CPL 2020 was the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league played in the West Indies. All matches were played in Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament started on 18 August and ended on 10 September 2020. On 10 July 2020, the local government gave its approval for the tournament to go ahead, with all the matches taking place at two venues behind closed doors. The full schedule for the tournament was confirmed on 27 July 2020. On 6 August 2020, an official press release stated that all players, officials and administrators involved in the league had tested negative on arrival ahead of a two weeks quarantine period. 2019 Caribbean Premier League
The 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) or for sponsorship reasons, Hero CPL 2019 was the seventh season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league in the West Indies. Matches were played in six countries – Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica and Saint Lucia. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to start on 21 August 2019. However, this was pushed back to 4 September 2019, to avoid clashing with India's tour to the West Indies. In August 2019, the St Lucia Stars franchise team was axed from the tournament, with the CPL looking to replace the team. They were later replaced by the returning St Lucia Zouks franchise. Providence Stadium
The Providence Stadium or Guyana National Stadium is a sports stadium in Guyana, replacing Bourda as the national stadium. The stadium was built specifically to host Super Eight matches in the 2007 Cricket World Cup held in March and April 2007. The stadium hosted six World Cup matches between March 28, 2007 and April 9, 2007, most notably the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa in which Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga became the first bowler in international cricket history to take four wickets in four consecutive balls. Barbados Tridents
The Barbados Royals (previously known as the Barbados Tridents) are the representative franchise cricket team of Barbados in the Caribbean Premier League. They are one of the six teams specifically created in 2013 for the inaugural season of the tournament. Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg had an equity interest in the team since 2013 after he was introduced to the game by his friend Ajmal Khan, the club's chairman and CPL architect. In 2014 CPL they qualified for the champions league. They were out of the tournament in the group stage managing to win only one of their four matches. On 30 July 2021, it was announced that the team name would be changed from the Barbados Tridents to the Barbados Royals. Global T20 Canada
The Global T20 Canada is a 20-over cricket tournament played in Canada. The first edition of the tournament took place during June and July 2018 with six teams competing. Each team featured four local Canadian cricketers in each squad, along with international players. The inaugural tournament in 2018 took place at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario, while the 2019 tournament took place at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Bombay Sports Limited are the owners of the league, and also the organizers of the Euro T20 Slam that was set to begin on August 30, 2019. The 2018 Global T20 Canada (also known as Canada Dry Global T20 Canada for sponsorship reasons) of the Global T20 Canada, was a 20-over cricket cricket tournament played in Canada. It was the first edition of the tournament and ran from 28 June to 15 July 2018. Six teams took part, with all the matches played at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario. A player draft took place on 3 June 2018. Approximately 1,600 players registered for the draft, with 600 of those from Canada. West Indies B Cricket Team
West Indies B is a List A cricket team that participates in the West Indian domestic List A tournament and was formerly also a first-class cricket team that participated in the West Indian domestic First Class competition from the 2000–01 season to the 2003–04 season. It is selected by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) from players who had been unable to secure a contract with one of the seven other existing regional teams, and is restricted to players under the age of 23 (with a few exceptions). Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots are a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) cricket franchise based in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and participated in the competition for the first time in 2015. The team will play its home games at Warner Park, Basseterre, located on Saint Kitts, and, like the league's other franchises, draw the majority of its players from West Indian domestic teams.
