''Encounter with Werther'' (german: Begegnung mit Werther) is a 1949 Cinema of Germany, West German historical film, historical drama film directed by Karl-Heinz Stroux and starring Horst Caspar, Heidemarie Hatheyer and Paul Klinger. It is based on the writing of the 1774 novel ''The Sorrows of Young Werther'' by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.Gillespie, Engel & Dieterle p.672 It was released to commemorate the writer's second hundredth birthday in August 1949. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and location shooting, on location in Duchy of Limburg (1839–67), Limburg, Wetzlar and Marburg an der Lahn. Paul Victor Ernst Dahlke (12 April 1904 – 23 November 1984) was a German stage and film actor. Career Dahlke was born in Gross Streitz (today Strzezenice, Poland) near Köslin in Farther Pomerania. He visited school in Köslin, Stargard and passed his Abitur in Dortmund in 1922. Dahlke started to study at the Clausthal University of Technology and the Technical University of Berlin but also attended some lectures in German philology and dramatics.
