Enaam Mayara
Enaam Mayara (; born 1968) is a Moroccan Sahrawi politician and trade unionist who serves as president of the House of Councillors, the upper house of the Parliament of Morocco. He is the president of the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), a trade union affiliated with the Istiqlal Party. Mayara also serves at the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. Early life and education Mayara was born in 1968 in Smara, he is a Sahrawi from the Reguibat tribe. He studied in Tan-Tan and graduated from the (IAV Hassan-II) in Rabat with an engineering degree and worked as a landscape gardener. Political and unionist career Mayara began working as a civil servant in 1991, he was the head of green zones and parks in the urban commune of Laayoune until 2009. Smara
Smara ( ar, السمارة ''as-Samāra'', also romanized ''Semara''; es, Esmara) is a city in the Moroccan-controlled part of Western Sahara, with a population of 57,035 recorded in the 2014 Moroccan census. It is served by Smara Airport and Smara bus station. History The largest city in its province, Smara was founded in the Saguia el-Hamra as an oasis for travellers in 1869. In the center of the city the remains of a stone fortress can be found, the Zawiy Maalainin, which enclosed a mosque. The Maalainin lived there from 1830 until 1912. It was made a capital and religious center in 1902 by shaykh Ma al-'Aynayn, in what was then Spanish Sahara. The location of the city was intended to ensure its becoming a caravan trade hub in the sparsely populated Sahara desert. Hamid Chabat
Hamid Chabat ( ar, حميد شباط – born 17 August 1953, Taza Province) is a Moroccan politician and the previous Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party. Hamid Chabat has been the mayor of Fes since October 2003 and was elected on 23 September 2003 to lead his party, defeating rival Abdelouahed El Fassi, a relative of former incumbent Abbas El Fassi and grandson of Allal El Fassi. Before holding office, Chabat forged a name for himself in his party's trade union (General Union of Moroccan Workers aka UGTM). Chabat also owns a regional newspaper covering the Fes region. Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid (; born 1947) is a Moroccan Sahrawi politician currently serving as mayor of Laâyoune and president of the communal council of Laâyoune since 2006 under the banner of the Istiqlal Party. Ould Errachid also serves as a parlementarian representing the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra constituency. He is a member of the central bureau of the party, where he coordinates the three Southern Provinces and chairs multiple local associations in Laayoune.
