Empoli Football Club, commonly referred to as Empoli, is an Italian football club based in Empoli, Metropolitan City of Florence. Founded in 1920, the side is part of a select group of Italian football clubs that do not belong to a provincial capital city that have participated in the top-flight. Empoli has spent most of its history in professional football. In Europe, the best results obtained was participation in the 2007–08 UEFA Cup. Carlos Eduardo de Castro Lourenço (born 31 May 1987), commonly known as Rincón, is a Brazilian footballer who is currently unemployed after most recently playing for KSV Roeselare in the Belgian First Division B as a defender. Football career Early career From an early age, Rincón was tipped to be the natural successor to Brazilian and Milan defender Cafu. The young right back became known for his attacking flair and soon signed a pre-contract with Manchester United, where he was expected to progress at a quick rate. Luciano Spalletti (; born 7 March 1959) is an Italian football manager and a former player. He is currently the manager of Italian Serie A club Napoli. Playing career Born in Certaldo, Metropolitan City of Florence, Spalletti started his career as a semi-professional footballer in his mid-20s. Despite relatively old age for a professional debut, he managed to have played for several Serie C teams such as Entella, Spezia, Viareggio and Empoli. Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football (soccer), football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1.
