''Emilie'' Sofia Bergbom (1834−1905) was a Finnish theater director. She was a supporter of the Fennoman movement. She was joint director of the Finnish National Theatre with her brother Kaarlo Bergbom Kaarlo Bergbom (2 October 1843, Vyborg, Viipuri – 17 January 1906) was a Finland, Finnish theatre director. Fennoman Movement
The Fennoman movement or Fennomania was a Finnish nationalist movement in the 19th-century Grand Duchy of Finland, built on the work of the ''fennophile'' interests of the 18th and early-19th centuries. History After the Crimean War, Fennomans founded the Finnish Party and intensified the language strife, yearning to raise the Finnish language and Finnic culture from peasant status to the position of a national language and a national culture. The opposition, the Svecomans, tried to defend the status of Swedish and the ties to the Germanic world. Although the notion of ''Fennomans'' was not as common after the generation of Juho Kusti Paasikivi (born 1870), their ideas have dominated the Finns' understanding of their nation. Finnish National Theatre
The Finnish National Theatre ( fi, Suomen Kansallisteatteri), established in 1872, is a theatre located in central Helsinki on the northern side of the Helsinki Central Railway Station Square. The Finnish National Theatre is the oldest Finnish speaking professional theatre in Finland. It was known as the Finnish Theatre until 1902, when it was renamed the Finnish National Theatre. For the first thirty years of its existence, the theatre functioned primarily as a touring company. The theatre did not acquire a permanent home until 1902, when a purpose-built structure was erected in the heart of Helsinki, adjacent to the city's main railway station. Kaarlo Bergbom
Kaarlo Bergbom (2 October 1843, Vyborg, Viipuri – 17 January 1906) was a Finland, Finnish theatre director. He was the founder of the Finnish National Theatre, the first Finnish language theatre company. Though he wrote very little as a playwright, he was responsible for introducing a number of important Finnish dramatists, particularly Minna Canth, and Finnish translations of William Shakespeare and other foreign writers. Bergbom also founded the magazine ''Kirjallinen Kuukausilehti''. He was the brother of senator Ossian Wuorenheimo and Emilie Bergbom. He is buried in the Hietaniemi Cemetery in Helsinki.
