Emil Novák
Emil Novák (born April 12, 1989 in Zábřeh) is a Czech snowboarder, specializing in snowboard cross. Novák competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for the Czech Republic. In the snowboard cross, he finished 4th in his 1/8 round race, failing to advance, and ending up 25th overall. As of September 2014, his best showing at the World Championships is 16th, in the 2013 snowboard cross. Novák made his World Cup debut in March 2008. Zábřeh
Zábřeh (; german: Hohenstadt) is a town in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 13,000 inhabitants. Administrative parts Villages of Dolní Bušínov, Hněvkov, Pivonín and Václavov are administrative parts of Zábřeh. Dolní Bušínov and Hněvkov form two exclaves of the municipal territory. Etymology The name ''Zábřeh'' is derived from ''za břehem'', meaning "behind the riverbank". It is a reference to the river which flows through the town. ''Hohenstadt'' is its former German name, meaning "high town". A name with the same meaning is used in Latin sources – ''Alta Civitas''. Blue Mountain is an alpine ski resort in Ontario, Canada, just northwest of Collingwood. It is situated on a section of the Niagara Escarpment about 1 km (0.6 mi.) from Nottawasaga Bay, and is a major destination for skiers from southern Ontario. The local area forms the newly incorporated town of The Blue Mountains, Ontario. On average, Blue Mountain sells more than 750,000 lift tickets per year, making it the third-busiest ski resort in Canada, after Whistler-Blackcomb in British Columbia and Mont Tremblant in Quebec. The 2012–13 FIS Snowboard World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for snowboarding. The season started on 28 August 2012 and ended on 27 March 2013. The World Cup was organised by the FIS which also runs world cups and championships in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and freestyle skiing. The FIS Snowboarding World Cup consisted of the parallel slalom, snowboard cross and the halfpipe. FIS Snowboard World Cup
The FIS Snowboard World Cup is an annual snowboarding competition, arranged by the International Ski Federation (FIS) since 1994. Since its inauguration, different disciplines have been added and removed, along with categories used to group them. Currently disciplines contested in the World Cup are: ''Parallel Giant Slalom'' and ''Parallel Slalom'' (grouped into Parallel category), ''Halfpipe'', ''Big Air'' and ''Slopestyle'' (grouped into AFU category) and the discipline-category of Snowboard Cross. Most of these disciplines have been contested on and off throughout the years. The only discipline contested in every season of the World Cup is the Halfpipe (and from 1996–97 season onward the Snowboard Cross). There was an Overall classification until the 2009–10 season.
