''emel'' is a defunct British lifestyle magazine that reported on contemporary British Muslim culture. The final issue appeared in January 2013. History Sarah Joseph co-founded the magazine with her husband, Mahmud al-Rashid, in September 2003. Joseph was the magazine's editor, and al-Rashid was a volunteer publisher and editor-in-chief. It was the first mainstream Muslim magazine in the UK to experience cross-over interest from non-Muslim readers and its circulation reached 30 countries. Emel Aykanat (born 8 June 1975), better known as Emel, is a Turkish-Swiss singer. Her first big success came with the single ''Somebody Dance with Me'' with DJ BoBo. Career At the age of 17 years, she toured as a background singer with Six Was Nine a German pop and soul band through Europe. Emel Dereli (born February 25, 1996) is a Turkish female track and field athlete competing in shot put and occasionally in discus throw. For the shot put event, she holds a IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics, world record in the cadets and a Turkish records in athletics, national record in the juniors category. Emel Etem Toshkova ( bg, Емел Етем Тошкова) (born 4 March 1958) is a Bulgarian politician of Turkish descent with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), the main Turkish party in Bulgaria. Emel Say (1927 – 17 February 2011) was a Turkish painter. She was the daughter of painter Zehra Say and the aunt of pianist Fazıl Say. Life Emel Say was born in 1927. Her grandfather was a politician, who left the Committee of Union and Progress and opened a dance hall. Her mother Zehra Say was the first woman in modern Turkey to be married at an official wedding. Emel's mind was always on music. When she was fifteen, she received singing classes from Professor Carl Ebert, who had established the Ankara Conservatory. At first, Emel Say wanted to be an opera artist, but she changed her mind when she fell in love with a piece of land in Hatay, southern Turkey. Emel Vardar is a Turkish sculptor and painter. Biography Vardar studied in the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and at the Sculpture Museums Society Studios. She painted many sea scenes and one of her paintings was taken by the Turkish Naval Forces headquarters.
