Oliver Peebles Jenkins (born Bantam, Ohio November 3, 1850; died Palo Alto, California January 9, 1935) was an American physiologist and histologist, mainly associated with Stanford University. Career Jenkins graduated from Moores Hill College (now the University of Evansville) in 1869 and served as a teacher, high school principal and superintendent in the public school systems of Indiana, Wisconsin and California, returning to Moores Hill College in 1876 to take up a post as a professor. In 1883 he was appointed to the faculty of the Indiana State Normal School (now Indiana State University) at Terre Haute and he became Professor of Biology at DePauw University in 1886 where he remained until 1891. In that year he was appointed a founding faculty member at Stanford University and he remained there until he retired in 1916 when he was Professor Emeritus of Physiology. Barton Warren Evermann (October 24, 1853 – September 27, 1932) was an American ichthyologist. Early life and education Evermann was born in Monroe County, Iowa in 1853. His family moved to Indiana while he was still a child and it was there that he grew up, completed his education, and married. Evermann graduated from Indiana University in 1886. Career For 10 years, he served as teacher and superintendent of schools in Indiana and California. While teaching in Carroll County, Indiana Evermann met fellow teacher Meadie Hawkins. They married on October 24, 1875 and had a son, Toxaway Bronte (born 1879) and a daughter, Edith (born). He was professor of biology at the Indiana State University in Terre Haute from 1886 to 1891. David Starr Jordan (January 19, 1851 – September 19, 1931) was the founding president of Stanford University, serving from 1891 to 1913. He was an ichthyologist during his research career. Prior to serving as president of Stanford University, he had served as president of Indiana University from 1884 to 1891. Chaenopsidae
The blenny, blennioid family Chaenopsidae includes the pike-blennies, tube-blennies, and flagblennies, all percomorpha, percomorph marine fish in the order Blenniiformes. The family is strictly tropical, ranging from North America, North to South America. Members are also present in waters off Japan, Taiwan and Korea. Fourteen genera and 90 species are represented, the largest being the sarcastic fringehead, ''Neoclinus blanchardi'', at in length; most are much smaller, and the group includes perhaps the smallest of all vertebrates, ''Acanthemblemaria paula'', measuring just long as an adult.
