Elviña
The Battle of Corunna (or ''A Coruña'', ''La Corunna'', ''La Coruña'' or ''La Corogne''), in Spain known as Battle of Elviña, took place on 16 January 1809, when a French corps under Marshal of the Empire Jean de Dieu Soult attacked a British army under Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore. The battle took place amidst the Peninsular War, which was a part of the wider Napoleonic Wars. It was a result of a French campaign, led by Napoleon, which had defeated the Spanish armies and caused the British army to withdraw to the coast following an unsuccessful attempt by Moore to attack Soult's corps and divert the French army. Doggedly pursued by the French under Soult, the British made a retreat across northern Spain while their rearguard fought off repeated French attacks. Both armies suffered extremely from the harsh winter conditions. Elvina Bay is a bay and adjacent suburb in northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Princess ( it, principessa) Elvina Pallavicini (22 January 1914 – 29 August 2004) was an Italian noblewoman, member of the Pallavicini family, part of, and often considered the leader of, the so-called Black Nobility in Rome during the second half of the 20th century. Early life She was born in Genoa on 22 January 1914 as Elvina dei Medici del Vascello, daughter of Giacomo dei Marchesi Medici del Vascello (1883–1949) and his wife, née Olga Leumann (d. 1966). Later life During the Nazi occupation of Rome after the Armistice between Italy and Allied armed forces, Princess Pallavicini supported Italian Royalist partisans and was later awarded bronze medal of military valor for doing so. Elvina Kong Yan-yin (; born 6 July 1967) is a Hong Kong television actress and presenter currently under contract to TVB. Background Kong was born in British Hong Kong on 6 July 1967. Elvina Beck is an American entrepreneur. She is known for co-founding Californian coliving company PodShare, where she also serves as CEO. Early life and education Beck was born in Moscow, USSR in 1985. In 1990 Beck emigrated to Brooklyn, New York City with her parents, Elvira and Antony. After an initial period of support from the Russian community in Brooklyn (a period which Beck has credited as formative in her positive views of community and sharing), the family moved to Livingston, New Jersey.
